John Tee
Not a whinge or complaint don't worry. As our club BMFA contact I have been checking the new CAA numbers. I found some had been updated on the BMA portal, so today I started to check the list. Has any one else found that their club members with surnames T to Z have been updated but not those with letters lower than T. Seems the CAA are working backwards (with our club anyway), no wonder people are getting frustrated. John
Martin Harris - Moderator
As an H, I'm still waiting and I do know a W who has been updated so you may well be right. My Brother label printer is loaded with 12mm tape and sitting ready by my side to produce multiple <30mm long fully compliant double rowed labels but I'm not losing any sleep over a day or two's delay in my number being issued. Like the majority of us, I can't fly at present so it will give me an excuse to fondle my models while awaiting release from lockdown... kc
Are the new numbers completely different or are they the old letter ones with just some prefix?
jrman
I am a"B" and my new number is shown. Not sure what logic is being used by the CAA, if any. p.s. Martin you can carry on "fondling" as I think it's still legal!
Geoff S
I haven't heard either as an 'S'. Not that it matters as a) I won't be going flying for a while and b) if I did, I doubt anyone will be checking my model. Geoff
Martin Harris - Moderator
I wonder if it's being processed in membership number order?

I got my CAA number quite a few days ago and mine is a 5 digit BMFA number from the 1960s. Dick

Eric Robson
Got mine 2 days ago I'm an R and only re joined BMFA for the last 18 months
John Privett
As I mentioned in another thread, I got mine last Friday, and it's updated on the BMFA GoMembership site too. My BMFA number starts 049... and surname (obviously!) starts with P. And yes - no resemblance whatsoever between my old and new numbers. John Tee
I started this post 10 days ago and since then no more members have had their CAA details updated. Seems a bit hit and miss. Only 20 members out of 100 updated. Those with A and B certificates obviously don't need the CAA numbers, but still a low number updated John
Dickw
Having an A or B certificate doesn't stop you needing a CAA OP-ID and putting it on your models, so what "CAA numbers" are you talking about?. Did any of your members renew direct with the CAA rather than via the BMFA - that could explain you not seeing their new CAA OP-ID. John Tee
It is the GBR-OP number. Very few in our club did direct with the CAA and they appear not to get new numbers until their current ones run out at the date they registered not Jan 1st. Martin Harris - Moderator
I wonder if your outstanding renewals were processed in a later batch? What are their expiry dates?

You cannot see anyone elses Operator ID details, they are only visible to the individual. Id's last 12 months from the date the current registration expires or from the date they they are issued, whichever is later.
John Tee
Andy, I'm one of the clubs BMFA admin and have seen twenty of the members ID's but only after the letter T which prompted my original post. I'm sure I can see what regular members can't. John
John Privett
That's odd, John. I am a club admin, I can see my own CAA operator id, but not that of other members in my club. On everbody else's record (or at least those I've checked) the field isn't even mentioned on the record.
