cymaz
Now lowered the tanks even more, the necks are in line with the carbs. Short video with uniflow tank set up and changed to OS F plugs. The needles need some fine tuning but Mrs C called me in for dinner The

flight1
That's a proper high class dining room table😁 + i hope that is the regulatory 92cm work top height or a job's work might be around?!. oh! what's that build hiding in the corner? you got to tell all as we have seen it now🤔🙃
cymaz
I’m sure Brian will tell you all about it on Friday, should he attend the meeting🤗
Chris Walby
Not wanting to put a downer on the good work, but are you sure the building board is level along its entire length? And that its going to stay flat for the entire build. Don't ask me how I know double thickness chip board can have a twist in it...
cymaz
I will be checking it with spirit levels and Brian very soon. I understand your concern!

alan p
The one behind looks like razor back P47. How do you getaway with building in the lounge😲

Martin McIntosh
I take it that you did not fancy the ones I sent you then, don`t blame you but those stubs into the legs will need to be very substantial, at least 8mm and rather tougher than mild steel. They will require a few more than the two grub screws shown since the side load on the u/c can be considerable unless landings are perfectly straight. cymaz
Brian the builder is suffering I’ll health at the moment. The project is on hold until he recovers. I wish him a speedy recovery x
cymaz
Finally.....the build has begun 🥳 I’m off to see Brian on Sunday so pictures to follow folks. Brian is on the mend and wanting to build. I’ve got a JE inverted muffler to see if we can streamline the exhaust exit, that will be tomorrow. The inner engine nacelles are first to be built as they contain the UC. They’re more cramped and need some careful planning.

cymaz
Nearly 4 hours work here 🤨 These inboard engine nacelles are a bind, not a lot of room!
Martin McIntosh
Yes quite. I ended up with very small SLEC tanks but luckily the motors were very frugal. I also had to contend with cells and switches to ensure that the plugs kept glowing at idle. Cannot remember if I used Herts Models intelligent glow switches or a purely mechanical switch set up. cymaz
I’ve done some running inverted glows using uniflow tanks. Not bad but all the heights and everything has to be correct

Martin McIntosh
That landing gear looks very nice. Don`t know how much experience you have with retracts but a couple of small grub screws onto what look to be 8mm stubs will not stand a chance against the twisting motion of twin legs. stu knowles
Hang on! twin legs have less rotational stress than a single leg. The joiner will need a flat or a dimple but it should be fine. Edited July 8, 2023 by stu knowles
Martin McIntosh
Hang on Stu, I used to have one of the above models. Fine if every landing is perfect and always into wind but in reality is never like that.

cymaz
Another video! Just to remind me how to do the other 3 throttle runs. The Z bend is to accommodate the removal of about 3-4mm of material from the mating face of the muffler. This will bring it just inside the cowl. Nothing is fixed on at the moment the push rod is held in by friction....
