I agree; the Riot is plagued with cheap clevises and plastic parts that are not up to scratch. That horrible rat-cage underneath, that passes for a battery hatch is abismal and the clevises are awful. If max thrust were to use their buying ability to get decent plastic parts they'd improve their reliability and quality no end. Doing things on the cheap help nobody.

Forum members' new models: Let's see them.

Do they do an electric "Thing"? -
For a beutiful flat building board that will accept pins and stay flat......Raid a builder's skip for a decent off-cut of plaster board. Cover the edges in packing tape and lay flat on your table. Lovely!

Open Tx (Edge) or New Spectrum radio?
Keith Billinge replied to Mr Ficky's topic in General Radio Discussion
I have the Spektrum NX8 and it's more radio than I'll ever need. Pair that with the Spektum antennor-less receivers the AR620 and the AR410 or if you want stablisation the AR631. Very good reliable kit with all the features you need for fixed wing or rotary wing flight, but with simple menus and easy learning curve. I know Spektrum stuff can be pricey but mine has been 100% reliable and pretty intuitive. -
Knowing when your Spektrum NX6 transmitter has charged

It goes out. But dont worry it'll be fine if you leave it plugged in overnight. I have the NX8 and it's fine -
Seagull Models at heavily discounted prices

Looks like the sort of pop-up website that hoovers in a lot of orders before the Credit card company gets wise; then relies on a few people who forget to claim a refund via the credit card chargeback scheme. Shame, it does look very, very tempting, but not for me! Another red light for me is, that there are no stock levels shown and nothing appears to be out of stock. Good luck if you do take a punt but I think not! -
I use an ISDT D2 charger, which would also seem suitable, but I'm not sure about it's max output. It's very user friendly and seems to be great in my experience. Keith B

I recently bought the Brother Scan 'N Cut CM700 from facebook market place and I have cut some decals and I find it great to use. If you have an old offcut of vinyl you can just scan it in and choose carefully where to cut your stencils or decals. It won't do tiny stuff but it will do lettering down to 5mm. It is very accurate so if you want to print something out on your printer or import a picture then cut it out it will cope with that. There's loads of Youtube videos showing how to use the thing and mine came with an ordinary 1ft x 1ft(30cmx30cm) cutting mat a 2ft x 1ft (60cmx30cm) cutting mat and an extra sticky cutting mat for doing material. It'll also do lettering for teeshirts or iron on designs. I've tried cutting covering material with it and it'll do that too if you play with the settings. I would advise against getting a new one but if you want to give it a go get a second hand one, like I did and you get the accessories with it. I paid £90 for mine and brand new I think it was about £300. I went on Amazon and got a 40 pack of 1ftx1ft vinyl for £14 loads of different colours. The accuracy is amazing and it will cut multiple times if the cut didn't go through on the first try. It'll do RAF roundells from different colours etc and they'll fit together afterwards. Ideal for large lettering on your model or large shapes. Mine is also wi-fi enabled so you can design stuff on your PC and easily port it over to be cut. I would recommend it if you can get a cheap one on Ebay or Facebook Marketplace. Fun to use and useful to the hobby. KB

If you struggle to learn new computer stuff and have the funds I'd stick with Spektrum and look for an NX8 or NX10. I have the NX8 and I am very satisfied with it. I find it pretty easy to understand and there's loads of videos on youtube helping me with the complicated bits. There's a bloke with a channel called BDTennessee who explains all the extras and he helps with step by step guides. Best wishes KB

Pitch Stick Tension - Beginner Needs Advice
Keith Billinge replied to Nigel Heather's topic in Helicopters
If you rotate in the direction of rotor travel you will gain height as you're effectively spinning the rotor quicker and vice versa spinning the heli using "rudder" away from the direction of rotor travel will effectively slow the rotor and you will lose height. Simples! This happens on the real thing too! -
If the Transmitter (TX) has had a new firmware at some stage then it'll be limited to DSMX only.

When not being used I put the filament back in it's plastic bag with a clothes peg holding it closed and the supplied dessicant pack . I haven't had any problems so far with moisture. KB

I have found one of the best sources of info on the ENDER 3 V2 is the BV3D channel on Youtube, He's great! Also I have signed up to the Ender 3 V2 group on Facebook. Both of these places seem to help with the printer. Since owning mine, I have fitted some quieter fans, a Capricorn Bowden tube, new Jyers firmware, BLTouch, Silicone bed spring replacements, and I've printed a few accesories like taller feet, a filament guide and a thingy to hold the tools. I use almost exclusively Sunlu PLA and find it's a cheap but reliable filament. KB

Nice work! I have the kit for the Fatty Corsair from the German company.......Erm I must get round to building it. LINK To Scale Park Flyer DE K B

The Ender 3 V2 is a good starting point in the wonderful world of 3D printing. Cheap and cheerful it's a good place to start learning. Due to the miriad Youtube and other social media help that's available to help you climb the learning curve. I have one and it prints very well for a budget model and there are so many upgrades available if you want to take it further. I bought mine and eventually went for the BLTouch to keep the levelling beast at bay.

I forgot to mention; the NX8 I have, seems to be prone to putting models at the top of tall trees. Also, it does have a reputation for mid air collisions. Clearly, this is just my individual NX8 though. 😉

Since being put on to them by a clubmate I use Irvine spinners. They are an aluminium back plate with a nylon-plastic cone. You can pass a reamer through the aluminium or drill it if needed and they always seem to remain well balanced. I've had bad times trying to balance the cheap plastic spinners and these are a nice product. You can get all sorts of different sizes and colours too.

Glad to be of help.....Sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees

I can't beleive the number of people on here who are scared of joining the 21st century and having a banking app on your phone/PC. The security nowadays, is very good and unless you give someone your pin number, or fingerprint, it's almost impossible for somebody to hack. Honestly; it's far easier for somebody to forge a cheque or steal your card details at the point of sale in a shop. Many online bank apps will have 2-step security whereby you get a text or an email before they let you log in and my Barclays one has a small pin card reader with encryption before I can log in. This is so much safer to use than cash or card alone. Finally if you're really worried about online fraud, you can use an intermediary like PAYPAL for many online transactions these days, which protect your account details and give you a right to refund if there's a problem with a purchase. Come on you lot take the plunge! 😁

I have adjusted the back light on for longer time as well. I forgot to charge mine a while back and just pugged it in to the car USB while I drove to the field. So convenient. I like the way the alphabet appears in a grid like a keyboard. When you're naming a model and you can easily scoot round and select the letters rather than scrolling through the whole thing. It's just easier to use. More intuitive. I have also invested in the AR620 and AR410 receivers which are brilliant with no antennas to snag they are very reliable and provide some limited telemetry too. I do think that Spektrum stuff is a bit boring and maybe they should try some different ergonomics; but I find it reliable and good quality. I know that's a "Marmite thing" and some people hate it! Let us know how you get on Rocker!

Had my NX8 for about a year now and it's bloody excellent! PROS USB Charging Wifi Updates Easy to move models on and off. Decent SD card provided and enough internal memory for loads of models too. Pre made Model Templates. Good quality sticks and switches. Easy to use telemetry. Excellent support from Spektrum with some worthwhile shortcuts. BD Tennessee Youtube Channel shows loads of step by step videos on how to use all the best functions. The method of typing stuff into the screen is better than the DX models. More intuitive menus. CONS The colour screen is neither here nor there....You need to set a Hi-viz colour scheme to see it properly on summer days. A bit pricey. It's been no trouble.

It may be that 2 of your models are using more than 6 channels? try a few moidels at a time.

Had a Scam call from a nice Indian sounding man the other day, who said my appliance cover was running out on my washing machine and if I could supply my bank details he could extend the cover for 3 more years for only £30. (I knew it was a scam because I never buy the cover in the first place). So, I said to the man " Which washing machine do you mean because I have 2?" (A Lie) He said "The Zannussi??!" I said "Nice try scammer! I've got an indesit!" (Also a lie)..... Hahaha He laughed and hung up! KB

My lovely wife bought me the Panic Kit from Avicraft in November for my Birthday. (She's so lovely!) I've had a look at the kit, but the buiding board is occupied at the moment. The hardware items packed inside, look pretty good quality and the benefit of buying from the designer was, that he included some wing joining bandage and a set of the aileron ball and socket push rods, for joining the upper and lower ailerons. Very good customer service and a great price too....so I am told. KB
