  1. Following as I too have an s6r that I have never been able to calibrate. It does stabilise and I had to raise 1 end of the receiver to ensure the plane was kept level as I could never get the thing to calibrate.
  2. This is awesome. One day I will make the jump to 3d printing when I have a bit more spare time. They do seem useful in the hobbies I have chosen.
  3. Our fields rules are phone in the car park, not in pits or flight box unless for safety if flying solo etc
  4. Does laminating film stick to itself well? As in when sheets need to overlap as at 30cm wide there may be a few joins on bigger models? Also very much like the idea of a thin tissue and varnish over the top, think that would look smart.
  5. Always found the way you clicked through pictures to be a pain. Hopfully it will have something better.
  6. Just make sure the voltage drop is high enough. If you want 5.5v you may have to supply more than what a 2s life can give. Sure the bec will have specs stated on it.
  7. I always thought if a servo said 6v compatible it meant 5 cell nimh, so about 7.5v fully charged, which then meant a fully charged 2s life was OK? Happy to be proved wrong below I blow some of my servos up from over voltage.
  8. Will the 40fp not make its way to you eventually?
  9. Postal service around me is great, never an issue. Some days I can count up to 5 different post deliveries up my road. I do feel there could be some way to improve this operation.
  10. Would this port be good for adding oil if the engine is going to sit for a length of time? I have an engine in a cowl I don't want to keep taking on/off and want to make sure it's all juicy inside and for the rockers. Is air tool oil still recommended?
  11. Thanks for the help all. The bloke I got it off said it was half run in so will stick with 35:1 and check the valves every now and then. I'll grab some 2 stroke oil soon and give it a go! Mixed opinions on the engine so hopfully mine is one of the better ones!
  12. Evening all I have tried searching for this answer as it has probably been asked before but I couldn't see anything. I have recently acquired a model with an NGH 38cc 4 stroke installed. I'm going to try and get it running on the next nice day we have but I am wondering about fuel. I was told off by the wife previously for bringing petrol in the house so I am thinking of going for aspen fuel which I have heard about and like the sound of it not going bad as I don't fly hours a week so can't imagine the extra cost is going to be significant. Is it true that it is much lower odour? Will the engine require retuning much? Also, what 4 stroke oil do people recommend? I really don't want to be faffing with maintainence so want to make sure I have the right stuff or if halfords lawn mower 4 stroke oil stuff is fine?
  13. How much lead was added? I have one yet to fly and to be honest was just going to fly and not rebalanced as its an rtf? Was it hard to fly with no nose weight?
  14. Cynic inside me says they just want their Elon investment. All these new technologies are still a fair way off that's if they will ever be feasible.
  15. Try it? If it starts and runs well I see no reason to clean it up. As long as the bearings feel good and it turns freely, add fuel and give it a go. A good first prime and fingers crossed. All my irvines have been tough as anything and can take a beating and neglect and still run flawlessly.
  16. I killed a 4.8v nimh recently by leaving it switched onto the receiver. My charger still charges it but because it is now knackered it thinks it is fully charged after a few minutes, peak detects a good voltage and if my charger didn't record the current added I would be a plane down. Voltage after "charging" shows a good 5v but the moment any load is added I drops down 4v instantly which is obviously too low for anything to work. Even leaving on trickle for a day so I know it has had a lot of current added the voltage still drops instantly on load. I guess batteries can just die but sometimes appear good.
  17. Ignore me, after faffing through every option it seems I have to manual change the battery type in settings before going to charge option. I would delete my post if possible to save dragging up this old thread.
  18. Sorry for dragging up an old thread. I have this charger and have been converted into life batteries for rx pack but I am not sure how I go about charging them. I have this charger and it says it does lipo and life but I can't find anywhere in the options for life, just lipo. Does it auto detect for life when it reads the voltage or am I missing something? Don't want to pop my first battery.
  19. Where are people getting their £7 life? I am a convert and on the hunt, especially as my charger can do life which I didn't think it could. But the best I can do is a 2 cell 2200mah for £23?
  20. Fair enough, message received (hahaha). Perhaps it is time I upgraded, but I will definitely be working on a solution to be able to share 1 flight pack between models to justify the cost!
  21. I just killed my 4.8v nimh by leaving the receiver switched on and whilst it does now charge, any load drops the voltage real quick and a fast charge pushes the voltage past 7v instantly which stops it charging fully. So I am in the market for a new rx pack but these life cost so much and I have never had trouble with nimh until I was forgetful. The arguments in favour are compelling but I still can't pay the same as I did for the model, for the battery. I found an old 4xaa holder in my bits box and for under £6 I can get 4xaa nimh 2100mah which I plan on using and then being able to pop out and trickle charge. I am thinking of getting these little battery holders in all my models so I only need 1 set of batteries and can swap. Has anyone done similar? Why isn't it done more?
  22. I was at work then on kids duty. Same for the weekend, missed a great few days. Sure I will see you up there at some point though!
  23. There's one on bmfa, mk3 built and unflown. Bargain if you near Leicestershire.
  24. No affiliation but is local to me, radiant for 12.50 and overlander for a few quid more. Not sure on stock though but worth a call. https://inwoodmodels.com/
