ted hughes
Posted by John Milne on 12/09/2015 07:59:18: Is this really the going price for these old Veron kits ? No, Impalas go for about £50 unstarted, about £25 built. Veron Vortexes, about £100 unstarted, £50 built. Peter Miller
Actually £1 for a useable 1/4" spark plug is a bargain. and that does look as if it had never been used.
Peter Miller
Now here is a man who doesn't know what a Tiger Moth looks like! Just read the description
Erfolg
Are you suggesting that the motor would look better in a scale type model that used a horizontal type engine, like some Continentals?
Dave Hopkin
It might well look perfect on a cub but it would look like a dogs dinner on anything with one of the gypsy type engines
Erfolg
I can see the point being made, if I have got it right. Yet I do find that it is all a matter of degrees. Using IC engines often results in a compromise of pretty intrusive non scale exhausts hanging out. Electric motors seem to look much better. As an engine unit, I quite like it though. A silncer outside a Gypsy cowl is bearable two pots are not.
Erfolg
Being provocative, instead of one side looking like a dogs dinner, it would have two. I really do think for a scale facsimile appearance, an electric motor is the answer! Now that engine, it is really a nice looking bit of engineering. Peter Miller
I am reminded of an expression that we used to use in the RAF. "A joke is a joke but blow a pantomime."

John Privett
Good grief! This is one I found linked to from the item in Kevin's post above. I'm sure most of us have chucked stuff in better condition than this in the bin! Even at a 99p starting price I'd say it's over-priced... Martin Harris - Moderator
I rather suspect, as the engine still appears to be bolted to the bearers, that what he doesn't say is that the engine was removed after the model had blown down from a tree after some months! John Privett
A question... How old can something be and still be described as "Brand New"? Like this? That's got to be nearly 40 years old, surely? And on 72MHz!
Stevo
Ah but it is easy to convert to 2.4. He says so. ☺Edited By Stevo on 20/10/2015 22:20:
Martin Harris - Moderator
Plenty of room in the casing for a 2.4 GHz module... As for the rare vintage engine, I bought one myself when they were new - now I'm feeling rather old... (still got it, by the way and used it in a Ripmax 40 when I returned to RC flying.) leccyflyer
How do some intending eBay sellers get away with making statements like "item is for sale elsewhere, so reserve the right to end the auction early"?
