Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Hi, OK everyone is mustard keen to get started, so lets get the ball rolling. What we are looking for here are concrete proposals - a particular model or a theme. Please no chat - lets keep this thread clean so we can clearly see exactly what is proposed! If you do what to chat about proposals - that's obviously fine - but can you do so on this thread ,not here.MartinK will be helping me to keep track on this thread - I hope, Martin! Before making a proposal please check that it has not been proposed before - this is NOT a vote (yet!) so you don't have to "back suggestions up" etc. If its proposed once that will be enough to get it in the consideration. Now, a couple of "ground rules" for those that might not be familar with the Mass Build idea. The main purpose of the Mass Build is to encourage the building, from plans or kits, of models as a communial, cooperative and interactive activity on the forum. As a bonus we will also be trying to arrange a "meet-up & fly" of the models - probably at Greenacres in June 2013. This purpose places some restrictions on the choice: 1. It must be "a build" - not ARTF. 2. It must be sufficiently straight forward as a build to be tackled by a first time builder with a reasonable prospect of sucess. But at the same time it would be very nice if it could offer scope for customisation by the more experienced. 3. It has to be low cost - not all modellers have deep pockets! And we all know you have the most fun with the cheapest models! 4. Ideally it should be capable of being built in IC or electric powered forms So, away we go - let's find an inspiration for the 2013 Mass Build! Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
How about a Peter Miller theme? either an existing kit/plan or maybe he could design a simple one for us purely for this mass build?
Tony Bennett
Kamco kavalier. low wing sports plane, ic or electric
Pete B
The Galaxy Gazelle ticks an awful lot of boxes in the Mass-Build spec. Choice of 3- or 4-function, standard or Super version covers every level of ability. Foam wings may encourage the less-experienced, too, and the style of model lends itself to a vast range of power options and finishes - let your imagination run wild! Finally, at £57 for either version, it shouldn't break the bank, either. Perhaps MHS could arrange a deal for forumites or make a charity donation per kit, as with the Webbit? It would certainly move a few kits.......... Pete
Chris Poulton
retro pattern please. how about redesigning the lovely old Curare to build a 25 size model.

Concorde Speedbird
Pegasus models Jester Biplane. Cheap, easy build with foam wings, fantastic flyer, dare I say perfect? Could be converted to electriceasily I think. Magician/Wizard also, or Domino for those who want a more demanding build. Or Concordes (joking yet again!) IanN
Club 20 - plenty of good designs there (also include the proposed club 25, if that gets off the ground in time with enough suitable designs)
Bob Cotsford
Funfighters - .20-.30 or electric power, plan or kit. They don't break the bank and allow for a bit of variety within the spec That could include the Boddo 'Dogfight Double' plans from the 80s (Neiuport 24bis and Fokker D8(?)) and similar thus covering both wars. Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Remeber guys let's keep the chat off here - just proposals. The reason is it get difficult to keep track if the formal proposals are interspersed with chat. For general chat and comment/support on proposals please use the 2013 Mass Build chat thread. Concorde Speedbird
Posted by Richard Harris on 21/09/2012 17:15:58: Club 25...but anything can be constructed as long as a 25 is shoe horned into it? Please can people ask questions in the chat thread but as long as it has a 25 two stroke, 30 four stroke or electric equivalent and it flies it counts I think. Luke Lane
How about a DB Tinker. Biplane 45 inch wingspan. Ideal for a O.S. 26FS. A shed load of fun.
kevin b
I like the idea of a theme rather than a particular model. How about a DB or Vic smeed build. Or a civil aircraft between the wars. What about an airliner theme. Any plan or design from a specific year. Any sport design below a specified wing size, but in particular colours (to be decided as part of the vote). Major
Theme idea is very good - will give a good selection of models for (almost) everyone. I'd stick to Biplane Boddo's designs Civil aircraft (any!) - this one the most. Cheers Tom
