Andy Symons - BMFA
After the success of our first auction back in October we are pleased to be holding another over the weekend of 7th & 8th January. This will be a bumper auction with 511 lots! We have some fantastic items up for auction with a significant number of engines new in boxes, both collectible vintage and also some very current engines so whether it’s a new piece to expand your collection or something to power your latest project there should be something of interest and a potential bargain to be had. We also have a significant number of kits submitted for auction, again, everything from rare vintage to relatively modern ARTF’s with a smattering of interesting 80s kits in there too. Please note this is a webcast only auction. You can view and download the catalogues at https://nationalcentre.bmfa.org/catologues as well as register to bid at https://nationalcentre.bmfa.org/auction#!/ Edited December 23, 2022 by Andy Symons - BMFA

Andy Stephenson
I've registered for this but it wasn't until I tried to make a bid and being sent round in an endless loop for a while, I had a note pop up saying that my registration was pending. The question is when and how will I know it's been accepted?

Bruce Collinson
Mine went through in about 10 mins. Not that I ought to have to register, really ... gratifying to see bids landing already. Clearly a lot of modellers have registered already. Terrific catalogue (nothing to do with me, just saying). BTC

Andy Stephenson
I see quite a few bids, mostly on the kits and modern engines, not so many on the obscure vintage engines. I wonder how many of those were left over from the first auction. How does the actual live auction work, is there a video feed or do we just see a listing on screen as it happens. Andy Symons - BMFA
There is a live webcast. It will all be clear hopefully when it starts.
Andy Stephenson
I see it now but the audio quality is awful. Edited January 7, 2023 by Andy Stephenson
Andy Stephenson
Some things I'd like to know about this auction process... How I know what my paddle number is, it wasn't mentioned in the registration email? Why does it say at the end of each lot "your bid was not the highest" even though I didn't bid? A little bit beyond our control but have tested a different sound system for tomorrow so hopefully will be better.
Andy Stephenson
Andy, I still don't understand where the paddle number comes from, please explain. I don't see mine anywhere, so even if I bid on a lot, how would I know that was MY bid?
Andy Symons - BMFA
You don't actually need a paddle number if you on the webcast, the screen shows you if you are the current highest bidder and you cannot place a bid as the software won't let you bid against yourself. Paddle numbers are needed for anyone attending in person such as at the first auction, this time though all attendees are on line.
Andy Stephenson
Thanks for clearing that up for me, it's useful to know how these things work.
John Lee
Interesting, entertaining & informative sessions. My fingers twitched a few times on the 'Bid' button but in the end I did not buy anything as someone was always prepared to pay a bit more than me. I look forward to the next one.
Andy Stephenson
I put pre-bids on a couple of items but were massively out bid on the day. Some of those vintage engines went for eye watering prices, one was over 600 quid. I was amazed that they almost all sold. Who buys these engines you can't use because you can't put silencers on them and most club fields have noise limits. Are they all collectors items?
