  1. No need to drill into the foam, just push your gluey sticks into it and it will be a nice firm fit.
  2. My current all weather flyer is a 1233mm foamy Glastar that weighs about 1200 grams rtf. I run it on 4s but it will fly on 3s 2200mah battery. Apart from when landing in gusty condition it fly's perfectly. When in the sky the model knows nothing about the wind but if it is windy you have to be careful when landing as it can be very turbulent when the wind is blowing across the top of hedge that flanks two sides of our flying field. I admit that model does have 3 axis rate gyro but I only switch on when landing in gusty conditions. I happily fly this model without the gyro but it does make landing in turbulent conditions less fraught. I also fly my little Veron Mini Robot in windy conditions, this model is very small and light with no gyro and quite happily flies in windy conditions. You don't need a big heavy model to fly in wind, they just hit the ground harder.
  3. Why would a 2 stroke engine make the model more suitable for windy weather flying than say a 4 stroke or an electric motor given the same power output?
  4. You could drill a couple of holes in the plastic thingy and push some carbon rods through the holes and into the foam bridging the broken bits, smear a bit of epoxy on the rods before pushing in.
  5. Any secondhand airframe or engine on eBay seem too be listed as vintage πŸ˜…
  6. I thought a Scottish attitude would to make do and mend πŸ˜… or is that just the English attitude πŸ˜…
  7. That 287mm dimension is bigger than the carry box it comes in πŸ˜…
  8. Not sure where you got those dimensions but my TX16s is much smaller than that at 180 x 180 x 100ish deep including sticks. It is is chunkier than my old DX6i but much nicer feel and build quality.
  9. My Radiomaster Tx16s feels no bigger than a normal size Tx but it does feel solid but no more than my old Hitec Aurora. I find it sits nice in my hands with shaped rubber hand holds. The RM pocket transmitter does not work with DSM2 or DSMx receivers as it only has the CC2500 protocols. The RM Boxer is available with a 4 in 1 module so will work with Spectrum receivers but I've never held one so I can't comment on what they feel like.
  10. Good news Matty that your rehabilitation is moving on. Welcome to my home town, shout if I can be of any help.
  11. I recommend you look at the Radiomaster TX16s with the 4 in 1 module, under Β£200 (just) and you can use your Flysky receivers and Spektrum receivers and just about any other receiver going. Personally I prefer the Lemon DSMx receivers but there is plenty of choice out there. I use Flysky receivers in my boats. The RM TX16s with Edge Tx is a steep learning curve but it will do just about anything a good Tx should except break the bank.
  12. Don't for Don't forget the caster as without it your engine won't gum up properly 🀣
  13. I bought some Blenderm recently off eBay and it was expensive at Β£5 or Β£6 for a 4.5m roll, then the other day i noticed SMC are flogging it off cheap https://sussex-model-centre.co.uk/products/db916-electric-flyer-hinge-tape-5-yds-7 I've used Scotch tape and it's almost as good as Blenderm but I didn't regret buying the proper stuff as it will last for quite a few models.
  14. You will know if there are any petrol engines flyers in your club from the racket they make!
  15. Hello Carlos and welcome. Following your build, it looks good. Your little doggie is waiting for you to finish itπŸ˜…
  16. Still getting getting slow/no access to forum, seems to happen random times the last being about 20 minutes ago, fine now
  17. I stuck 6g servos with hot melt glue and covered my Coyote with Solarfilm. If they ever need replacing then I just cut the film and cover with a patch. Your 9.8g servos will be perfect.
  18. If you can find a local archery club they will have damaged arrows they will gladly give you. You can buy left hand M3 dies to make your own turnbuckles.
  19. Rosso in the above post's is the man you need to contact.
  20. Waggle the wings, if they go the same way as the stick it's going away from you, if they go the opposite way it's coming towards you.
  21. Best wishes Matty, flying again soon I hope. 3d printed titanium, that's cool!
  22. I've never seen a cow in a workshop before πŸ˜„
