  1. Mine flew well until repaired and ever since it has been a box of frogs. I have a strong suspicion that it has acquired a lot of "sticktion" on elevator as well as some structural distortion which I can't be bothered to tackle whilst i have two others to "go to". Great when new though. BTC
  2. Put it in the (wife's) car. That's what I do. BTC
  3. GG, There is/was a thread a couple of years back about a model stand made from a Screwfix scaffold/trestle with minor modifications and I use one for fettling i/c setups and running in, because of the excellent access and in deference to my dodgy knees. If I'm flying electric I use a leisure battery as an anchor, if not a corkscrew dog tether (the chrome plated ones penetrate better, less friction) and paracord as I too was nervous about the thrust from a Saito 125 . A slight faff remembering first in the boot but a boon when doing jets, cowls, props/spinners etc. So handy that I have one permanently in the Mancave; it has a large elastic band at the back to stop the tail lifting, whereas the flightline one has bungee straps with hooks, ribbon rather than cord. BTC
  4. Nigel R, Apologies for the delay, we’ve managed a short break and my radar was off. spoke to El Tel and the tweaks are to do with having to use 4 strokes. The new nose is slightly shorter for c of g reasons and the fus is under an inch longer from wing te to tail. The fus is slightly wider to facilitate radio installation. Terry says the fundamentals of incidences etc are unchanged. hope this helps. BTC
  5. As a technophobe, if you email me I will forward to Terry. BTC
  6. I will ask him but I suspect he tweaks a bit with every successive version. Might be able to get a current plan if it helps. B
  7. My Rocket has been waiting for spray for so long, it transpires that the Oracolour hardener is out of date. All ours (4 or 5, Terry Anderson is a clubmate) run on Saito 100s as we don’t fly 2 strokes for noise reasons. Lovely plane. I think Terry has tweaked it a little latterly. BTC
  8. Ron, Sid's Law, after we emailed yesterday, it was waiting when I got home. I'm very grateful to you for the time and effort you put into becoming the UK's premier lam film dealer! Bruce
  9. Mods have softened somewhat latterly then. Good-o. BTC
  10. Excellent. John, can you remind us of the reason without incurring a lot of pc wrath? It reminds me that the only Barbie joke I know is clean. Still mildly amusing nevertheless. BTC
  11. I use both. The Multiplex one is small and neat and I think the issue of how to “zero” the scale bars has been dealt with by Broken Prop. It seems slightly counter-intuitive but the trick is, from memory, make sure that the measurements are from the main balance/hinge point. A Vanessa is great but awful fiddly without a spacious man shed with a suitable fixing in the middle of the ceiling and a decent bench beneath. The Multiplex can be used on the kitchen table, landing etc. Something I found with the Vanessa was to buy a bike storage pulley from the Geordie Dating Agency (some of you know it better as Screwfix....Mods ... !) which makes the crucial lifting clear of the bench much easier, especially with a heavy plane. Hope this helps. BTC
  12. Jon, Sorry if this is repetition but can I run a BNIB Laser 80 in a Wot 4 on low oil fuel, and still a 14x6 for running in? Anything more to add? Bruce.
  13. This stuff clearly has legs; am surprised no LMS appears to be stocking it, they could apparently buy 100m and flog us 5 or 10m at a suitable markup. (Will; you reading this?) Will you chaps link to the known reliable suppliers of 38gm matt, as that seems to be the best all round compromise? preferably UK sourced, obviously! BTC
  14. JD 8, some days I still am, with some planes ....
  15. Ditto what Chris W writes, adequate power, no ballast and can run on very low oil. Subject of course to what Jon says when he gets here. Either way, you're spoilt for choice. BTC
  16. Glow ...Laser ...MSL couriered fuel ... Laser low oil mix ...; petrol; NOISE. No idea how much space there is in a Chippie cowl but my direct and observational experience of a 20cc petrol is that by the time you've got anywhere near 82dB, a decent glow 4 stroke wouldn't have cost much more. I remain to be convinced that you can lose the irritating "bark" from a 2 stroke petrol without either strangling it, or hanging a pound of cobbled together muffler from the outside of the plane. Smell. Very frugal though. BTC
  17. Opposite end of the scale, first power r/c landing, 4 yrs ago, Apprentice allowed to descend with minimal input, touched down about 100 yards upwind of the strip but it was the seminal moment, bitten again, but still happy every time anything lands straight and square on the strip. BTC
  18. There was said to have been a train crash caused by a Southerner creating a warning sign about wait while the light is red, misread by a Northerner! In my youth, some of my elders and betters were wont to use the short “a” as in grass and bath, rhymes with gas, yet say plaster and master to rhyme with “rather”. Well not an exact rhyme but you get the drift. Being neither a Northerner nor a Southerner, I use the short a , especially in plastic and transport. Language evolves, innit? BTC
  19. Blimey MH I'd forgotten that one! You probably know the one to which the punchline is, "a hod's as good as a sink to a blind Norse"! BTC
