David Ashby - Moderator
Just me and my curiosity really. Just wondered if 3S is still an electric flight staple really? Edited By David Ashby - RCME Admin on 11/01/2012 15:07:

Eck
Down to a couple of models that use 3 cells and a single model for two cells. The four stroke addiction is taking over my modelling life!

Olly P
lots of 3 cells and 4 cells, couple of 2 cells, IIRC the split runs: 8x3S, 4x 4S and 2x 2S.Edited By Olly P on 11/01/2012 15:31:

Andrew767
3s and 4s....Pretty equal split really.. Andrew
Bob Cotsford
3s, though I've still got a couple of 2S left over from before I 'upgraded' the Little Bit to 3S and a couple of tiny 2S for indoorsy models
Gareth Bryant
Nearly all 6s up to 12 lipo's now, my models seem to get bigger with every addition!
Toni Reynaud
Mostly 3s, various capacities, but just bought a couple of biggish 2s to use with brushed 480s and as 4s in a new model. Couple of small 2s for parkflyers.
Pete B
Fairly even split between 3S and 4S, the more so as the average model size has grown......A couple of 2S and 5S, and my 6S needs are by doubling up the 3S's Pete.
Tim Hooper
Mostly 3 cells, but widely differing sizes 1800 - 4500 to cater for various sizes and current draw. Other packs from 2 to 5 cells. tim
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
You mean they make them in sizes other than 3s BEB
Chris Bott - Moderator
6S A123 (well what else did you expect?) I buy/build my models to suit. I have some smaller models too but the lipos for those are many and varied.
Tom Wright 2
Mainly 3 cell ,with many incremental values from 500ma to 5000ma,its interesting to note how much better lower cost lipos are by comparison to even two years ago. Do have a few two and four cell and just one five cell.
Reno Racer
I think 3 and 4S Lipos meet most modellers needs, 3 and 4S Lipo airframes and quite prolific and doubled up we get 6 and 8S Lipos for bigger stuff and EDF. Flexibility of use I think is the key here, my 5S and 6S lipos don't get much use apart from use in 46/50 size IC conversions and 90mm EDFs. I wish the cost of A123s would come down, then I'd use 4 and 5S A123s instead!
Frank Skilbeck
A year ago it was almost all 3s now the majority of the models I fly most are 4s. (outdoor of course, indoor is all 1 and 2s)
Myron Beaumont
I have one three cell and one four cell .Everything else is IC powered .
graham kindberg1
3 and 6 cells, Small stuff on 3s, 40 size tends to be 6s, then we jump to 9s (3 and 6 in series, some with 2p) the 70" to 90" models get the same batteries in 12s and 2p.I have 2500 in 3s, and 5000 in 3s and 6s. only 3 different batteries, enough of them to fly all day. I have over 30 aircraft from 40" to 96".
Glyn R
Park flyers 2 on 3s, Bubbles funfly on 3s, Limbo Dancer on 4s Acrowot on 5s. Under construction FW190 on 6s , 4 IC on Irvine 53 one on Enya
Reno Racer
I have lots of Lipo, mostly 3,4 and 5S and with capacities ranging from 1800mah to 5800mah. Many were bought for IC conversions and my EDF stuff. Apart from my EDF, I have take a retrograde step recently and gone back to IC. Most of my stuff now flys on ASP 4 Strokes, although I do have a few 2 strokes - Just got hold of an old DuraPlane trainer which now has a Magnum 52XLS 2 stroke fitted - it will fly like a man possessed on that, but apparantly it lands like a brick - a possessed brick!!! Not sure why I've got a trainier again, but it was free, so will be a useful test bed aircraft. I also have 2 petrol aircraft.
Rob Lewis
My flight batteries vary from 6oz to 16oz. No wait thats the tank size. Hmmmmm, no electric for me (yet???).
Mark B
The poll could include multiple other choices to make it more accurate. For example I fly lots of park flyers with 2s or 3s batteries, mainly 2s around 30-40 inch/ up to a meter span, but had to put 2s in the poll as it didnt give the 2s/3s option. I also fly ic with older multi cell packs for the larger club and full size airfield models.
