Thanks, John.

Since a bit more than a year now, I've been struggling a lot with my mobility (heavy claudication in both legs).

Not really looking forward to the surgery but it's the only way to get back a minimum of mobility...

Also the main reason why I didn't start that Hovercraft build blog I told you about a while ago.

Cheers

Yes my friend, assumed you had a problem from some of your posts but didn't want to pry, we'll all be wishing you the best.

Why when you pick your team does it always leave you without sufficient funds to get that last team or driver? :classic_biggrin:

I ended up having to compromise by omitting Hamilton from my team for the first time in years. Thanks to me, he’s bound to win the championship this year! 🤣

... In my opinion, the Mercedes boys aren't going to be contenders this year... Two alfamen in a team that still has some recovery to handle compared to the 'blues' and 'reds'.

Could be wrong, though...

Cheers

Does anyone remember the joining code. I have selected my team and drivers and then clicked the wrong button and removed myself from the league, which also removed all the posts for the league and so had to do a search to find us all again. it will be a bit long winded going through all the posts again.

I am currently waiting for the Manager to activate!

I suppose a few of us are waiting as well, Simon...

My best guess is that John P is having one of his splendid northern cruises somewhere between the Swedish waters and St Petersburg...

Thanks John!

It says after entering that code "You are already in this league"

OK....it seems to be all sorted, apart from not seeing the league table as usual, where we all comment and say "I am at the top of the league" and others say "No I am"

.........lol

Should be activated soon then. Cheers guys.

Evening all!

Just been catching up on the last couple of months worth of posts here...

Chris - hope everything goes well next week with your surgery.  I'm sure we'll all be thinking of you and look forward to hearing of your recovery to improved health afterwards.

I've just activated the league again - I must have missed the email from fantasygp telling me that the competition was open again for the new season.  Just to repeat - I know it's already been posted - the code for anyone who wants to join us is 8397165 and the team name is Modelflying Forumites.

I haven't picked my team yet - well whatever I pick can't do much worse than last year's! 😅  There are 10 of us far on-board for the new season and the first race is just 2 weeks away - Bahrain on 5 March.

Now,  once you've got your teams picked - don't forget your predictions!

Thanks to those who expressed concern as to my whereabouts!

It's been a busy couple of months,  with a pre-Christmas visit to the Christmas markets in Cologne and Bonn with my elder daughter.  Then Christmas and New Year in Vancouver with my younger daughter and a couple of days on the ski slopes.  Back home, all the membership renewals for our model club members,  my daily cycle rides,  oh, and that thing I really must give up one day,  "work".

Anyway,  I have a team to pick now!

... thanks a lot, John... firstly for your 'sudden reappearance'... and secondly for your best wishes...

I really hope as well to be able to communicate about my 'recovery' as this first surgery is a heart surgery as I seem to have three coronaries in really bad shape.

The second one - later on - will be a more standard abdominal and femoral intervention.

Thanks & cheers

Well it all depends on the car really (as ever in F1!)

My working assumption is that Mercedes will have managed to understand and reverse the misstep they took with last year’s car and that if their redesign for this year corrects the characteristic which limited them so much in 2022, the potential of their “zero sidepod” concept might start to really be seen. It should, after all, be something of an advantage to not have big sidepods hanging off the car.

Two alpha drivers can be an issue if the team has a dominant car, but I suppose even if they take a good step forward they might only be in contention for wins rather than out in front of the pack. I’m looking forward to seeing the Russell Hamilton fight again this year as it seemed the young gun had the measure of the champ at times last year, but Lewis is a wily fox at this stage of his career and surely knows that his teammate is there to learn from him, so in an uncompetitive car last year, what point was there to pull all the tricks out of Lewis’s deep magic hat?  I’m betting that only if the Merc is competitive will we see Lewis at the top of his game, and when he digs deep I do certainly expect he can beat young George in the same car.

Well I put a speculative bet on Mercedes for constructors champs this year at 2.25:1 odds, so I’m certainly biased by wishful thinking :classic_laugh:

My other bet on F1 is a double accumulator for De Vries to beat his teammate Tsunoda and Gasly to beat Ocon in WDC and if that comes off it pays 3.68:1. I only ever bet small stakes on F1, but have won consistently over the past few years, and it makes watching the season a bit more fun!

Good luck with your operation! Those docs are pretty good at what they do these days, so I’m sure they will fix you up 👍
