Jon H
As i treated myself to a small lathe i might have to join you in these endeavours. Alas no mill, so everything will have to be round!

jeff2wings
Although it's possible to do milling on the lathe it requires a lot more effort and patience (and time)to achieve good results, and after slotting a couple of cylinder heads and woodruff keys in a new counter shaft for the myford, I brought a mill ! Some more metal mangling Edited November 4, 2022 by jeff2wings
jeff2wings
Intake/tank finished, final ops ,make prop spinner, cop screw, thin mounting lugs and drill, clean thoroughly, assemble and then, hopefully, run !🤞 4

jeff2wings
So I have managed a few 20-30 second burst after a lot of flipping mostly due to the fact I made the piston/liner quite tight, I think most of the running in has been done by hand lol 😆! I may have to reduce the piston skirt by aro 20-30 thou as there's very little sp induction and a new needle valve as the one I'm using is of a K Mills. So time to resurrect another project
jeff2wings
Bit more progress with the final machining of the crankshaft, prop driver, nut and washer and crankcase rear cover, next will be intake and fuel tank

Engine Doctor
I have a vertical slide etc for milling on my lathe however it takes so long to strip then reset up that I bit the bullet and bought a bench top mill . Brilliant tool and combined with a lathe opens up a whole lot of procedures that otherwise would be too troublesome. Start saving Jon 😉 . jeff2wings
Well I'm having a bit of a issue with a tight spot with the Speary piston/liner I think I will have to get a bit more aggressive with the lapping, most likely need another piston making 😒 But l have finally got some sustained running with this . Running on a 10x4 Kavan ,when it's done a bit more running I will check the rpm's

jeff2wings
LOL! It's just about making sufficient draught to worry the skin on a rice pudding ,it's only 1.4cc although it looks bigger but I will be building a F/F model for it
brokenenglish
Jeff, I don't know anything about these oddball designs, but that engine is very like an early Allouchery.
jeff2wings
Thanks for posting those pictures, i I tried to combine the looks of the Allouchery and the Dyno with the porting of the Mills, although I made the piston a bit long so there's no sub piston induction at the moment. I have another set of castings for the Speary that I intend to-do as an spark ignition and a set for a Atom 111 that may get the diesel treatment ! jeff2wings
Spent a couple of hours this afternoon making the second cylinder for the pair of Westbury atoms, bit stressful doing the cooling fins as they are only 1/32 thick, the original drawings suggest using cast iron 😯! Not very likely to get broken much !
