Chris Walby
I'm in....perhaps a question might be where are all the sub 70 size Lasers?
Jon H
9 minutes ago, Chris Walby said: I'm in....perhaps a question might be where are all the sub 70 size Lasers? This one is easy. We made them, no one bought them, we stopped making them. The 45, 50 and 62 were also the same physical size as the current 70 so offer no advantage over it. The 61 was the same physical size as the current 80. They would also cost the same to make as the current 70/80 and so would retail at the same price. Putting prices up is not the answer as a 70 at near 300 quid would not only be insulting but also would not sell, to say nothing of the engines higher up the stack. I think the current £250 price of the 70 is reasonable but £300 would be too much. To do a 50 now it would need to be a clean sheet design with all new parts and would be very costly to manufacture as a result.
David Davis 2
I refer the Honourable Gentleman to my post in Coupe Des Barons 2022 where i mentioned that I could cheat by claiming that my Laser 62 was actually a 45 or 50!

Ron Gray
I'm assuming that it will be more about the history of the early development of the Laser engines, otherwise 1 hour ago, Jon - Laser Engines said: No i have not been involved at all. would be extremely rude! Martin Harris - Moderator
No need to assume anything - The BMFA page gives a précis of the talk: He will describe the journey to Laser Engines, how 4-stroke engines work. a look at 'full size aero engines' , the influence on the design and development of Laser Engines and the application in models including World Scale Championships.

John Lee
Before there were Lasers: A rather younger Neil Tidey with 'Stoo' Holland in the final of Control Line combat at the 1964 Nats, held even then at Barkston Heath. Laser's were inconceivable back then, Neil used a Rivers Silver Arrow diesel.

Ron Gray
That's a shame, but a bit strange, it's still showing as going ahead and I've not received any 'formal' notification about it being postponed, has anyone else?
