Nigel R
Dutch roll, maybe? I know what you mean. Tail wags a bit. Full size get fitted with yaw dampers. Or, gyro, in other words.
GrumpyGnome
We typically clear the air for a maiden, to allow the pilot to be where they want/need to be... 2
leccyflyer
Agreed - I've always considered it good etiquette to leave the patch and airspace to anyone who is conducting a maiden flight.
Don Fry
Mind, on a practical basis, who fancies flying with a maiden flight going on. Someone might have to get out of the way.
Andy J
On larger models do most still do an inclined angle test of the engine at full chat prior to the first flight, I only ask as it took me some time and several forced landings recently on a small model to find that the clunk feed had come off inside the tank. john stones 1 - Moderator
No Taxi runs at our club, if you want to watch a maiden flight, make your own way there. 1

When i did the maiden for my 88'' DB Hurricane i asked for clear airspace and one club member got really snotty about it. He didnt say it directly to me but a friend overheard and told him to get over it. Frankly, i dont understand his issue as i would glady give up a few minutes for someone to do a maiden flight. They are only 5-10 minutes long, and it might be very exciting to watch.

And it is easier to duck down out of the way and see where it crashed making finding the debris easier. Enough said.
