I don't usually do this but I've put the bits together to see what it looks like - not too shabby!

Wow - you have more self restraint than I do. I spend about half my build time propping the bits up and imagining what it will look like when it's finished!

And the Tempest is looking magnificent, by the way...

Slightly behind Ron as I've had a few problems, myself not the kit had I been OK it would have probably been finished by now.

For anyone with any doubts just get on with it there is nothing that can't be overcome, all the help is available on here.

I need to get a move on now Maiden date on or before D Day.

Mine certainly won’t be ready for D Day as I’m away all next week. I plan to have it all covered with the electrics etc all installed before I go which will leave the paint finish for when I get back. Whilst I have the decals etc for RB I’m still undecided over the colour scheme as it would be nice to have something a bit different.

Hello, Richard, I put my name in the hat but said I was happy to wait for the second batch. If a kit is still available I’ll certainly have one, please. I think you have my details but I can soon PM you if not.

David Holland

Pm sent < David ,

If anyone else out there is waiting for a kit , then make yourself known .

There were a few on the original "hands up " list who didnt come back to me , which is fine , but there may not be a second opportunity .

I was thinking that it’ll match my FW

The desert colour scheme was post

war round about 1948 the one shown was based in Iraq, some based in Egypt about that time were dark earth, dark grey,  with light grey underneath.  They were mk 6 Tempests with additional wing mounted radiator and oil coolers similar to the Tempest 2 and a reverse of the Seafury, ie radiator on starboard wing.

Well it has all been given the brown paper treatment and will get a sealing coat of something (dope maybe) later. I managed to do the fuselage in 3 pieces + separate pieces for the wing root fillets! I'll post some photos when I've done that.

No, the full monty, shrinking cellulose dope because that's what I've got! I did try some Eze-Dope but I don't really like it.

I am pleased with the covering as there are no bubbles and no signs of it not sticking to the surfaces, the painting process usually highlights any of those areas but I'm hoping that the dope will have given the paper a better seal.

Just an update really, vid will follow on Sunday as that will be the last of the work before I go away for a week. So I managed to spend a bit of time on the Tempest today and have the control surfaces hinged and fitted, the servos in place and pushrods made and connected and the tailplane has been glued to the fuselage. Offering up the fin / rudder I noticed that the latter is too deep and extends past the bottom of the fuselage by about 15mm so I've trimmed it down leaving it approximately 6mm proud. I made the 'skid plate' from some 6mm plywood as it's going to take a bit of a bashing on landing and have glued that to the underside of the fuselage.

I mentioned above that I did use some Eze-Dope on some surfaces and 'proper' dope on the rest and now that it's dry I can say that the proper dope is way better than the Eze=Dope. the surface is much harder and takes a light sanding well whereas the Eze-Doped surfaces are quite a bit softer and sanding has to be done with care. Maybe another coat would improve it but it's not for me.
