Thank you for your kind messages about Chris. Sadly Chris passed away on 08.11.24 aged 88 years old. As well as having a successful flying career and being an incredible artist, Chris was also a loving husband of 61 years, father to two daughters, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed. If anyone would like funeral details please get in touch

Sorry to hear that. I once emailed him about one of his humorous comments in an article on (IIRC) Quiet flight and received a beautifully hand written reply.  A lovely bloke and a very talented designer, artist and pilot both full size (believe he flew Hunters in the RAF) and model.

Condolences to his family and friends. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

Sad to hear this news.  Chris Golds was an inspiration, I built his Lancaster  when it was first published. It takes a complex prototype and turns it into the most simple build. The finished model looks right and flys right.  I have tried to seek out almost everything that he has written in the modelling press ever since.  His rate of production was amazing, he described most of them as 'cartoon scale' but they looked so good.

I rate him as being high among the modelling greats

My sincere condolences to his family and friends

That's very sad to hear. I have greatly enjoyed reading Chris Golds' column in QEFI over the years, especially his anecdotes of his RAF service, his wonderfully artistic finishing of his models and interesting write ups of his superb designs. He will be sadly missed. My condolences to all of his family and friends,

So sorry to hear this sad news. A prolific designer, builder and contributor to QFI magazine. He was probably why I had a subscription to the mag, not wishing to miss his next groundbreaking and often unusual model subject. An inspiration to us all.

If that were not enough he was also a professional artist whilst also finding the time to be a bell ringer too, if my memory serves me right.

My condolences to his family and all who knew him.

Very sorry to hear about Chris passing, a talented man and all-round nice fellow. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times at fly-ins, he was always very interesting to talk to, either about models or his time in the RAF. He had an amazing work ethic with an incredible output of models and magazine articles. His model designs will live on for ever.

My condolences to his family and friends.

So sorry to hear this sad news Angelica, please accept my condolences. I spent many happy hours flying with Chris as a member of the Konkorde Model Flying Club. He was a fantastic model builder, artist and all round nice man. If you would be kind enough to let me have the funeral details please.
