  2. Nice one Gary, David Boddington really knew what he was doing! Who needs ailerons!!
  3. Could I suggest that you try fitting an add-on stabilizer unit when it is rebuilt. It may help him get it off the ground safely (and get him out if trouble at the flick of a switch) - he can then turn it off for normal flight. Many experienced modellers use such devices on, for example, the little Arrows edfs. He'll have his nice 'old timer' assisted by modern technology.
  4. They still use a linear pot for position feedback.

  6. I wish to delete this thread on this twin and focus in the pioneer, Moderator, help please. Thanks!

  8. Really nice! Handy size.... Any chance this could become an RCM&E plan?
  9. I don’t think I’ve a good 9g servo. The next job is to make the two new brass arms using the ply as a template. I’ve ordered some Paxolin which will be the final piece of the puzzle
  10. Let's hope so Pat, he didn't have a battery tester but was going to order one straight away.
  11. It has flown beautifully and earned its colours. FW190..
  12. Thank Richard it is really a wonderful flier.. Thank you all for your feedback.. I am really pleased / chaffed with FW190, my first warbird. I took off from my dolly in the maiden.. The dolly worked ok but needs some foam to keep the tail centred as our field is a bit bumpy, causing the tail to move sideways at take off. I had a wee incident at the end (Slowed down too much as I was going downwind- which I should not have). Even that showed how robust the bird is. I am glad you put the spare cowling in Richard. I will be flying it regularly once I get back from my holiday. With that enthusiasm I started the Tempest with the doubles and the formers glued in....
  13. I think that that's a great job although perhaps I would have used a 9 gramme servo rather than a standard.
  14. He may have actually only run it down to LVC (Low Volt Cut) level, in which case it will probaly recharge OK but will have lost one of it's 9 lifes. 😉
  15. There's a whole one currently for sale, with spares... https://classifieds.bmfa.org/acadp_listings/hobbyking-avro-lancaster-complete-with-spares
  16. One last thing for this week - I had one of the retracts stop working….. A bit of a panic last night thinking about how to solve the problem which included having to cut away the lower sheeting to check the servo lead from the retract…. Not something I was wanting to do! Having slept on it I think I’ve found the cause - the rear balsa former for the lower nacelle was rubbing up against the wheel when it was ‘up’ - I think that this binding has caused the retract unit to shut off…. A small amount of trimming back the former and the retract is back to working again! Hurray!!! 🤣🤣🤣 One thing I’d say to anyone who hasn’t built much before - you’ll get challenges in a build but more often than not with a bit of time and thought (and asking for help in the forums!) you’ll find a way around most problems…. Worst case scenario is you’ll have to cut something out or build something new! Really would say to anyone who’s thinking of building from a plan/kit to just go and do it and you’ll have something that you’ll be proud to say ‘I made that’ 💪💪
  17. That was my entire point, that the "intense chemtrails" being shown were perfectly natural and were referred to as mackerel skies centuries before there were any aircraft to lay such chemtrails. That was met with flat denial, but you can't argue with such depths of ignorance. No flying for me today, the day dawned a bit misty, but warmed up nicely and I had garden maintenance to take care of, so two days in a row was enough. Prospects for flying during the coming week are pretty thin, so spent some time discharging the larger packs that I hadn't used yesterday down to storage voltage for next weekend.
  18. A new member came to the field yesterday with a fuselage and asked what size battery it needed, looking in the battery box was written 4s 4000 I explained what that meant and said it may fly on 3s as it was not very large or heavy. Today he turned up and said he tried a 3s and it seemed powerful enough, he then said he ran it for 10mins before the battery died. I told him he had probably killed it and explained about not running it flat and how to handle lipos. The problems of buying something you know nothing about.
  19. Here's another one Possibly an older version engine but with the current muffler. These seem to be going for a lot of money, maybe due to lack of supply of any new 4 strokes in this size?
  20. This one on ebay is close. It has the later crankcase (breather nipple under the front) but not the cast muffler. Looks to have "O" on the lug. It's already bid up to £150. I am at the opposite end of the spectrum. I have an early one with "A" on the lug and open header pipe!!
  21. Second flight ... By this time the wind had picked up slightly and swung round to no be coming straight accross the patch which made the 45 degree to the wind landings a litle tricky but still she flew really well 1105771174_BeasyMK2.mp4
  22. Hi Alec ,,, @Alec Turnbull,,,, You aked me to keep ypu updated how I get on with my new Db Centurion.... Finally had the chance to flying it today.... First video is of the maiden flight filmed by anothe club members wife..... and I can very happily say it flew perfectly 80736321_BeastyMK3.mp4
  23. I think that saying predates 'chemtrails' by a large margin. We had a good day too, but watching motor cycle racing at Cadwell Park for the first time in 30 odd years (last time I was there, I was a travelling marshal). My friend's son won all his 3 races with his BMW flat 4 sidecar outfit. I knew him as a toddler and schoolboy but he's now 58! It's sobering. We were also treated to fly past of BoB flight's DC3 on its way to a display somewhere. I guess. Glorious weather but now we're back home it's raining - again!
