  4. Yes, thanks from me too. My account at Slough RC had lapsed, so no longer receiving mails from them. Have now resurrected it and bought a pair of Rx at less than half price!
  5. OK, take 2! As already pointed out, the results were revised following Sainz's 5-second penalty. So here are our updated scores for the day; Pos League Rank Team Manager Pts 1 10 4 Pitts Specials john stones 252 2 5 2 Team Charles Picd Charles Pic 243 3 4 1 Revers Racing Pete B 238 4 2 0 Mannschaft Carl Brotherton 233 5 12 0 Torque of the devil Stu 218 6 1 0 Essex Racing Tony Clark 215 7 7 3 LetsGoTotoLetsGo GrumpyGnome 212 8 14 1 GASTON Formula Chris McG 204 = 8 1 Iqonic racing iqon 204 10 3 0 DMFC Racing Team Simon Webb 203 11 15 1 Norfolk Flyers Kevin Fairgrieve 186 = 11 3 teewrex John Tee 186 13 6 2 PSS Power Flyer 182 14 9 3 Hidden Cucumber fat brownie 179 15 13 2 The JP Specials johnpflyrc 173 16 16 1 Hans Brake Zoonie 134 Same top 3, though not quite so close on points as previously! Clearly something else was "missing" from the scores I posted on Sunday night, as we've all scored somewhat higher in the revised results... The overall table now looks like this; Pos League Rank Team Manager Pts 1 1 0 Essex Racing Tony Clark 1056 = 2 0 Mannschaft Carl Brotherton 1056 3 3 0 DMFC Racing Team Simon Webb 1022 4 4 1 Revers Racing Pete B 999 5 5 2 Team Charles Picd Charles Pic 967 6 6 2 PSS Power Flyer 946 7 7 3 LetsGoTotoLetsGo GrumpyGnome 917 8 8 1 Iqonic racing iqon 911 9 9 3 Hidden Cucumber fat brownie 907 10 10 4 Pitts Specials john stones 896 11 11 3 teewrex John Tee 895 12 12 0 Torque of the devil Stu 883 13 13 2 The JP Specials johnpflyrc 861 14 14 1 GASTON Formula Chris McG 856 15 15 1 Norfolk Flyers Kevin Fairgrieve 768 16 16 1 Hans Brake Zoonie 739 And now we do have a change at the top! Tony and Carl are now in joint top place. Simon remains in third place.
  6. Excellent, will be keeping that in mind, thank you very much Nigel!
  7. I have been running it from a 12V car battery rather than a lipo. could this have caused the problem?
  8. Lovely weather for a few sorties with one of my Flair Triplanes, three flights and all down in one piece, will test run the engine on the second one in the morning, if that goes ok it will get some air under it`s wings tomorrow afternoon.
  9. I think the emphasis is on the description for it - tailplane rather than the 'over the pond' description of horizontal stabiliser.
  10. After a cold, wet and windy Winter and Spring, I finally got back over the field again for the first time since last October. Took three models - my trusty 28 years old Goldberg Chippy, a little Hyperion Yak 52 leccy and a nice electric Extra that I acquired from my late good mate's estate. Far too much chatting and tea drinking over the five hours, so only six flights in total but enough to blow away the cobwebs. Field was immaculate thanks to our very busy groundsman. Quite nice at eleven O'clock with light and variable winds making it pleasantly warm, but increasing cloud cover and a strenghtening but manageable breeze saw most of us donning coats and jumpers - quite chilly by mid afternoon.
  11. Mine is noticeable by its absence 😠 Pony express has to change horses at York
  12. Its a thing of beauty Grumpy. As ever ...... I'll not be flying it anytime soon ..... I have a successful partnership with the Super Cub and I want to keep that going but it will be one of the first out of the hanger when the time comes. ..... Unless of course my mentor takes a fancy to it and entices me to take it along for " another " more successful maiden for a bit of light relief from the usual flying programme ...... I can always dream ..... 😄 it does actual fly well and it is a heavy beast in the air ..... sounds funny but you can almost feel the weight as you fly it .... weird or what .... cheers toto
  13. If anyone has a definitive answer to this I’ll be surprised and pleased.. I have been testing my newly installed mechanical retracts in a new model. I have chosen Savox servos, one for each wing/retract. Savox SC-0252MG+ Standard Digital Servo With Soft Start 0.19s/[email protected] SC0252MGP On my Futaba 14sg, I have had to set the end points right the way up and down to get the throws I need for each retract to lock in their up and in their down positions. The issue is this - I used the transmitters servo slow feature to attempt to make the deployment action look more scale. Bearing in mind these are servos rated to 10.5KG, there was minor if not negligible binding with the nacelle cutouts (model is a mosquito). On the side that I had programmed the servo slow speed to be greater (for scale asymmetric appearance) the servo stalled and burned out - a very hairy and Smokey moment! On testing the remaining working side, when I dialled back the slow effect, the motion was much much smoother. My suspicion is that the servo slow feature is having an effect of reducing the torque somehow of the servo. Has anybody experienced anything similar or can a specialist opinion be offered as to any resultant hindrance to servo performance - and some theory as to why my servo burned out?
  14. So ..... bringing this back from the dead now that my FMS Beaver has been repaired and getting close to being back in the " live hanger " squad. This has been on the back burner for some time. Never been maidened or even close to it. I have had a bit bother with push rods etc and now its time to refresh my memory as to where I left off. a few things as far as setting up the Beaver for another test run over the next couple of weeks but the Tiger 60 will have the cob webs blown orf and revived towards it initiation. I think my mate Aidan will enjoy this one as well as he has a vested interest in this. stay tuned for further activity coming soon. toto
  15. Hi All, thank you so much Lads, yep got the choke servo working from a Y lead, on switch channel. Many Thanks Andy
  16. So ...... the FMS Beaver is repaired and just needs a trial run with the wings on. The repairs have been covered on My FMS Beaver thread. i wont repeat it here. I have to bung a battery in her and see where I left off as far as binding to transmitters and setting rates etc. I'll cover that on the beaver thread as well as I get around to it. Possibly through this week at some point. Now I can move on to getting my other two projects back out of oblivion. .... my Tiger 60 and my Domino. Now that the light nights are back ..... I'm up for getting these two back into the " ready and able " stable. great stuff ..... keeps me busy through the week as I wait for stick time. cheers for now toto
  17. And ..... up end her .... and ........ now job done ..... cheers ..... toto
  18. Your probably right GrumpyGnome I always assume everyone is on a par ( or more knowledgeable ) with myself but they are much easier to install from a USB stick/cd compared with years ago . As long as beginners stay away from command line stuff they should find it quite straightforward to get going .
  19. Thanks Jon. You are absolutely right. I could easily fall into the trap of buying cheap, then buying twice ! Point about old Lasers noted. My mind is set on a modern engine with the rounded rocker cover. If I have to wait for the right motor to turn up and it costs a bit more, so be it. Same principle with other makes, go for a good one. I know what you mean about the videos, though. TBH, I’m only interested in the nuts and bolts aspect, to see how they are put together. If you know how they work, you can fix em if they go wrong. A bit like kit building, when it crashes, you can repair it.
  20. I started off with FlySky, and still have two for buddy boxing with my kids. The only problem I've ever had with them, is the AA batteries - do not take off if it's showing half on the "battery-o-meter" on the main screen. I was lucky the one time I got caught out, and I was flying a free flight/RC conversion that happily landed itself not too far away. Range is fantastic, reception is fantastic, the voltage sensors for your electric planes are brilliant. If it does everything you need it to, you've definitely got nothing to worry about. 👍
