Paul Marsh
The spit is back on, little less at £450. Funny, though, as my £20 offer was rejected. Why? 2ch am radio is worth nothing, the engine is a MDS, not worth anything either. Only the (incomplete) kit is worth anything, but not much... Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Amazing.....£500 is probably what all the magazines/piece parts cost him... There is as they say one born every minute......maybe he's hoping one will see his ad.....
Djay
Paul. I think he took offence to your offer as he has put in big letters. SENSIBLE OFFERS PLEASE !!!! £20 WILL NOT BUY THIS ITEM. THE ENGINE IS WORTH MORE THAN THAT !!! Seems a tad upset. Darryl
Paul Marsh
I tried to sell a brand new MDS 58 at the Bury Club auction last year, and only got £20 for it, even then it was hard trying to sell it. Then there is the unknown MDS 40, which might not even run. Good luck to him... p.s. It's only worth £20... Richard Harris
From the days when all transmitters were mode 1, I am unsure whether the Futaba M series transmitter is 35 or 27 MHZ?Any help would be of use.
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
M series is 27MHz but the one shown is cutting edge cos it was FM rather than AM.....heady stuff indeed..... I know cos I have one.....
Richard Harris
Steve, Thankyou for the information, looks like its an AM set I have then. Rich
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Is yours one of the beige/brown sets Richard......pretty sure these were all AM. FM was pretty new & high tech when it came out (late 70's early 80's I think) so if it was FM I am sure it would have a big sticker somewhere..... Richard Harris
Steve, Just checked , the transmitter is 4 channel and in silver, and yes there is a very big sticker stating its FM. How I missed that give away heaven only knows Rich
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Ah.....that which is looked for is often missed..... I think all the silver ones were FM.....

Peter Miller
Now here is an interesting thing. Notice that the engine is listed as "New other". The head is on at right angles to the correct position. I sent a question to ask why. I was told that he didn't know anything about engines but that even thought the engine had never run he had taken the head off to make sure it was in good condition. I replied and pointed out that it was a good idea to make sure you knew how things came off so you could put them back in the right way. I also took the time to describe how to tighten a head down to avoid leaks and distortion. Apparently I am now a nasty, opinionated person. Pity, I was interested in the engine but not after it has been dismantled by an incompetent novice, or, as we called them in the RAF, a black pudding bender.. Now I could be wrong, but it looks suspiciously like the remnants of burnt-on castor oil around the pressure nipple on the silencer and around the rear seam on the silencer. Not to mention on the rear left-hand (as we look at it) of the carb, and on the exhaust manifold and some of the cooling fins on the cylinder. Daithi O Buitigh
There also look like scratches on the prop washer and also the corners of the prop nut look silver in comparison with the flats - to me that has had a prop fitted

Peter Miller
Another £40 of scrap And I see that Spitfire has just been relisted, still at £450. I think the chap is really getting a bit hacked off. Note his comments at the end. There, two links for the price of one Edited By Peter Miller on 21/05/2012 08:36:
