Neil James
First of 3 new gliders this month. This is an Albatross 2.4m from TopmodelCZ. A great kit, all it needs is gear installing and it flies really smoothly. The crow brakes work really well too.
Dad_flyer
Not new, but new to us. From the swap meet at Woodspring Wings show yesterday, maidened by Child_flyer just now. 54" wingspan. Unknown make, ply frame with thin foam skin. Flies nicely on 4s.

leccyflyer
This weekend's maiden flights - my venerable Vmar Ju52, which has been wrapped in bubble wrap for at least twelve years, but finally took to the skies on Sunday. She flew like a big trainer - loads of wing area and easy ROG - really nice to fly. Picture credits Derek Robertson = thanks Derek!
leccyflyer
Second in line was my E-Flite 1,2m P-39 Airacobra, which really lived up to the cliché of flying on rails, with not a click of trim needed. Derek really captured these two models well and I'm delighted with the pictures.
John Wagg
Maidened yesterday - sport scale Morane Saulinier type "N" from Radio Modeller plan. This is the second one as I built the first one sometime in the late seventies. Using the very same engine ,Enya 35, from 40 years ago. 3 channel, all moving elevator as per original. 14

Robert Parker
Hi All, Recently finished my TN Sunderland and took some photos last night Just for fun I made her some legs and trolly scaled up from the Airfix kit. Wingspan 72" weight: 3.7kg or 8.15lbs Covered in encapsulation film and sprayed with Halfords white primer and Flair Spectrum paint on the upper surfaces Power uses the 4 max setup and a 3s 6000 and plenty of pull on the bench I made some access hatches in the nacelles to get to the speed controllers The cockpit lifts out to get at the battery now waiting to maiden Regards Robert
EarlyBird
New to me and test flown after a few repairs. It had a brushed motor, with a bent shaft, so I guess it must be old. Steve
Neil James
3rd model maidened in the last month - I’ve been catching up on building which was delayed by bad health last year! This one is an ASH26 from Composite RC Gliders, 1/6th scale at 3m wingspan and mostly carbon fibre. After being set up exactly to the instruction sheet flew off without requiring any trim adjustments. Very happy with its performance in 15kt wind and the wing has both flaps and spoilers which were very effective in slowing it down for landing.
leccyflyer
Nice shots Neil 🙂 Latest successful maiden flight in a series for me this morning of my Flightline FW190, which zoomed around quite nicely in the increasingly breezy conditions.

Robert Parker
Hi Tosh, If you look up Ron Grey's "Laminating film buying it and using it" this is where I learnt about it too. In a nutshell, it is a bit like Oracover/Solartex in application and easy to apply with an iron, it can be persuaded to go around compound curves with a little patients, however, only shrink it with the iron and DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN on it. Compared to other films it is cheap as chips and it has no backing film to it so it is kinder to the environment too. I did however, encounter a big problem with it, new material new learning, even though I went of the model with 800 grit wet and dry to give it a key for the paint, the paint I used did not take well and comes off fairly easy. I used Halfords white primer, all over the fuselage and on the wing underside and for the camo I used Flair spectrum paints and these too come off easily. Since painting the model I have learnt that using Plastic Primer to start with and then painting over that. In Ron's blog he has used acrylic paints, really worth a read. GrumpyGnome
I use it exactly like film, using an iron to stick the edges, then using my ancient domestic heatgun..... pays to do a practice piece first.
Ron Gray
Main things to remember with lam film is that it needs more heat, can take a lot more heat, needs more care when covering tight curves as it doesn’t stretch / shrink as much, form holes through it for control cables etc with a small piece of metal tube pre heated so you burn a hole through. Other tips, be careful when covering sheeted areas, if you’re going from one side to the other use a lower heat setting otherwise the film can wrinkle. On larger surfaces I tend to low heat tack around the edges then up the heat and work from the centre outwards (much the same as covering open structures). Heat guns can be used ! Tosh McCaber
Without wishing to extend this aside discussion to the main title New Models, Ron, presumably the film is adhesive? Edited July 20, 2022 by Tosh McCaber

Can't be maidened until our landlord cuts his wheat crop 😞 Think I'll finish my P47 next (have stolen the engine from my MiniPlane for the DT above...)
