Levanter
I have one Futaba Tx with a mini Hitech Rx but that is on an RC yacht and is how it came second-hand. I will be converting this to 2.4 because it is very useful to control the servo end point for the sheet winch. This makes changing rigs for different wind strengths a doddle. When I go 2.4 they will match. I did buy Spektrum Rx from Ebay about a year ago when I restarted the hobby but after all the advice about fakes on this forum I have binned all that did not come from known suppliers. Now I only buy Spektrum from Steve Webb Models as I trust them and their service and mail order is excellent. How cheap is a cheap foamie? J V R
Hi Rich2 I don't have a preferred make at the moment so pretty much anything............
Chris Jones 7
Does anyone make FrSky compatible RXs? Never mind - the FrSky ones are cheap enough not to worry anyway!
Alan Randall
Only Spektrum. I have two Orange that I won but have never used.
sgwlm
frsky taranis, frsky receivers only, but before changing with jr I did use others
Lindsay Todd
Futaba FASST always, might not be the cheapest around but never even considered going elsewhere even my cheap models cost more than the tx in reality I accept the cost for piece of mind. Bill Wood
Why is it you don't find many Hitec rx clones? Because the original are not too expensive so I guess there isn't a big enough market for clones but I'm still looking.
Rod Parsonage
Dave Bran Curious nobody has asked why you have 30+ tx, and surely you've left out some Hubsans, Twisters and other curios. Rod
Cuban8
I always use genuine Spektrum RXs, although I did try a FrSky module in my old FF8 in order to use the cheaper FrSky receivers. Unfortunately, this was not successful and was told by FrSky tech support that their Futaba module was not, in fact, compatible with the Futaba Field Force 8 - so that's my one and only visit to the world of cheap radio................yes, I know how all the Taranis gang will defend them to the hilt and Orange seem to produce a good product, but I'll stick to what I'm confident in. FlyinBrian
I have a JR DSX9, it came with a JR 9 ch rx. The system is DSM2 therefore I tend to use Spektrum Rx. I have also got six or so Orange 6 ch rx which have proved to be fine.
Josip Vrandecic -Mes
As a futaba user (T8FG) I was skeptical to all other RX brands , but FrSky is a really pleasant surprise... for me Jo
GrumpyGnome
Genuine spekky in fast/heavy Orange/other clones in smaller/lighter GG
Steve Houghton
With my JR DSX-9 I use Spektrum DSM-2 RXs, but these are 'branded' items rather than clones, so I don't know how that fits into the survey. I voted 'No, too expensive' for genuine JR kit.
Lee Smalley
i am on JR DMSS now so i dont think any cheap rx versions are out there and to be honest i would only use them in foamies my jet is about 3K in the air, why would i save a few quid on a cheap rx £90 for a proper RX in a 3K airframe really is a no brainer
Martyn K
FrSky Receivers with FrSky Transmitter and hack module On my Futaba T8J, I used Futaba, Ripmax clone and FrSky clone receivers (S-FHSS). The only receiver failure I have had was a (less than 1 year old) Futaba Receiver that kept resetting mid flight. You dont want that to happen on a low inverted pass and the failsafe kicks in.. Receiver is now only used for testing and is painted bright red to remind me.. Martyn
John Allen
On Taranis now, so FrSky only, excellent prices too
The Wright Stuff
I stick with Futaba. It may be a little more expensive, but with only 6 channels, the cost difference between a genuine one and a compatible one is only about £5 to £10: so little compared to the airframe that there's really no point scrimping... Vecchio Austriaco
Said yes to always - not really true. Yes all my receivers are Spektrum DMS2 and I have a DX7 - but I added a JR transmitter to my selection VA
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Yes, FrSky Taranis - FrSky Rx's, Been running that for 9 months now an not one single radio hitch, glitch or whatever. Prior to that Futaba - all genuine Futaba Rx's, except I did but one 4 channel FrSky FASST Rx for a small model. Seemed to work fine but I was happier with the genuine kit. Now with FrSky Taranis I can have the peace of mind of genuine kit and still have enough money left over to buy a model as well! Happy days! Kevin Fairgrieve
When I was using Spektrum in the early days DX7 then DX7s I started off using only Spektrun Rx`s. And never had an issue. Then started to use Orange Rx`s and started to have issue`s!! That kind of knocked my confidence in Spektrum, more than likely without good reason. I then saw the light and converted to Frsky. Only use Frsky Rx`s now. So my answer is Yes and No!! Kev
Stevo
Genuine all the time, JR of course.. never ever had a glitch!
fly-navy
FrSky module in a FF9 tx, been using it now couple of years with the FrSky rx's, been bullet proof up to this point (Asking for trouble now aren't I !!! ). This was on the recommendation of a mate who flies with the DP and his big jobbies, good enough for those it's ok with me.
