mightypeesh
Just switched on..... Leaves me cold to the pit of my stomach. How can you defend against indiscriminate attacks on men women and children just enjoying a night out by people who are happy to die doing it. Bad times ahead I feel. Awful. My heart goes out. Dai Fledermaus
Today is yet another day when I am reminded how devisive, dangerous and destuctive Religion has been and will continue to be. I'm glad I have no part in it.
John Privett
I agree DF. I am not a religious person, and events like this make me even less likely ever to be one. I do appreciate that the "persons" (can't use the word here that I'd prefer) behind this are not representative of whatever religion they claim to represent. But the concept of living your life with the attitude that "my god is better than your god, so I'm going to kill you" is just beyond my comprehension. My thoughts too (but not prayers) are with the people of Paris who were affected by this appalling series of events.
Tomtom39
I was there earlier in the week and have so very many friends in Paris. Truly shocking and horrific.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Yes terrible events, we don't rely on religion alone to do this sort of thing to each other though. John

Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Let's remember please that while we are all shocked at what happened and feel deeply sorrowful for those effected, this forum is not, and will not be, a platform for racialist generalisations or xenophobic rants that catagorise whole sections of the humanity into one mould. One post removed already any repetitions will be removed and posters may be sanctioned. Such expressions do not help and are not appropriate here. Mark Kettle 1
My friend works at the British Embassy in Paris and lowered the flag this morning - in his words from facebook - Lowering the flag at the embassy this morning is something I will never forget. Paris has become my home and I hate to see it like this. Utter horror at how some people can view this world #prayforparis

Paul C.
'THE PRICE OF FREEDOM IS ETERNAL VIGILENCE' some things we are going to have to fight to keep. Dave Hopkin
Posted by Paul Cooper _ on 14/11/2015 21:30:41: 'THE PRICE OF FREEDOM IS ETERNAL VIGILENCE' some things we are going to have to fight to keep. It's a heavy price to to pay but something that must be done, it appears to be our turn on step up to fight for our freedom. "Eternal Vigilance" is a myth, it cant be achieved without a total lock down of society, in which case the Terrorist have achieved part of their aims, Terrorist who want to escape and survive can be effectively deterred by security screens, but its not effective against those willing to sacrifice their own lives - I am afraid its more of the same, "we have to be lucky all the time, they only have to be lucky once" Stepping up the fight against them by the western nations would I am afraid have the real potential to make the situation worse - in a diplomatic sense the west has put itself in a very difficult position, it wants Assad removed, but the only force with any prospect of doing that is ISIS and that would be a worse outcome.... Piers Bowlan
The Eternal vigilance of GCHQ has saved this country the pain of numerous attacks, we will never know the full story. Vigilance by the general public is essential particularly within communities where radicalisation may fester. It is sadly true that there is not any total defence against this kind of attack, particularly by Jihadi lone wolfs if not by organised gangs. So Dave, what is the alternative to not stepping up the fight even if that does initially make the situation worse? Stop the bombing, pull out the special forces, stop surveillance and drone flights? In short, turn the other cheek and pretend it it is not happening; it is not our civil war? Soon, a million displaced Syrians will have entered Europe seeking a new life, free of persecution and the fighting. IS have expanded their war into Turkey so is it likely to stop there? History has shown that fanatical tyrants and bullies with expansionist ambitions need to be stood up to and taken to account. Whether walking away and doing nothing or getting further embroiled in this conflict, sadly, I feel the situation will get worse before it gets better. Paul Harris 5
Its strange how the political correctness of the mods only apply to some of us isn't it. The blatant censorship dose make it appear that at least one of the mods supports the terrorists. I don't think I want to belong to a forum that supports Muslim terrorists and Muslim rape gangs Yes Muslim Terrorist Lover you can delete my account now and do it in your usual underhand way Goodbye

Paul Harris 5
Neither was having my post deleted by the Muslim Rape gang supporting Mod without even the common courtesy of a PM letting me know why. Silence on the matter can only be taken as support for the problem.
