john stones 1 - Moderator
7pm Wales v England. What team will turn up in Englands kit, one with some energy or one drained of self belief and timid ? Wales ? My lips are sealed. 😉
Don Fry
Trouble is they take themselves too seriously John. These lads are football professionals. Not ( mostly ) hired for skills outside the necessary. Then they have to thread through a minefield of his, her, they, furry, crusader, ad infinitude. Mr Southgate is a realy nice bloke, but perhaps a Roy Keane type might be better, enforcing omertà. Genes are all Welsh, but born and bred in England. So I can’t shout, “dod ar y rhyfelwyr” (come on you warriors)

Peter Jenkins
Well, Rashford's just driven a nail into the coffin and Foden added another. With Bale off I think Wales are done for.
Denis Watkins
The whole team are quality, but Marcus Rashford is On another level, a Manchester lad, you can see him play in Manchester. The England team in the 2nd half, would have beaten any other team in the world tonight.
Don Fry
I assume they can manage Senegal, Denis. Then it gets going, France, Spain, Portugal, Brazil………………

They closed everything down, won the normally loose 2nd balls, and took the ball back frequently.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Senegal are African champions, no easy task playing them. Gueye suspended and Mane injured though.

Been on the Metheglin and Penderyn Whisky, Don?! 😉 PS - Well done England, but far greater tests are to come. On that evidence we will be a stern test for anyone, but I'm not as bullish as @Denis Watkins - I don't think France or Brazil will be too worried, at least not yet. Let's see how they does against Senegal... Edited November 30, 2022 by MattyB

Peter Jenkins
I hope the England team watched this as a warning not to take Senegal lightly. It's knockout time now. Best team playing at their best is needed with no silly errors.

Peter Jenkins
David this is a footie thread. How off post can you get? However, it was 506 for 4 with 4 centurions. Only Root, of all people, failed with 23. A lot of records were broken includibg England being the first Test team to pass 500 on day 1.
