John Lee
With ice, snow, grass and mole hills on the strip it was agreed that FunCubs were the appropriate weapons of choice. They are Chris's immaculate original, Phil's in Hazel Sig's clipped wing full size colour (or should that be color?🙂) scheme and my NG version. Splendid little session before the cold & fading light won.

Eric Robson
Only two at the field today, we had to take our coats off it was so warm. Flew the foam Wot4 and a little Me109e then the new Warbirds Replicas Me110, I am happy now to fly it on a single 3s 5000 a 6 minutes flight left 35% in the battery, not a great video as it was done on my mobile phone. Sorry file too big for the video Edited January 15 by Eric Robson

GrumpyGnome
Quite a busy day at WHMFC... 8:00 - warmish, dry, calm, decent visbility. Batteries on charge. 8:30 - took dogs to flying field for a run. It's about a mile away, and 70 feet lower.... quite misty 9:30 - foggy 10:00 - met flying chum at field as he had set off. Thick fog! Home again 11:30 - 14:30 - flying in beautuful conditions. Anonymous member (no names to protect the innocent) brought his new Super Chippie for a maiden. Didn't go well - very short flight, ending with broken undercarriage and bent wing tube. After a sulk, hw threw his little Edge/Extra about like a real hooligan. KM left his big 'uns at home and treated us to some low, full chat, inverted passes with his venerable SLEC Funfly. Glenn came along with a veeerrry fast foam lwccy delta, and a weird EFlite Ultrix. Being the first leccy flights of the day, it all seemed less of an assault on the senses! Ben brought his Riot for a few sedate flights, and his newly repaired Marlin - didn't see it fly but hopefully he kept the speed up a little more on landing..... I flew my Double Trouble, with its strangely hard-to-start OS, and maidened my new Seagull CAP. Have now taken a lump of lead out of the nose.... and tweaked the engine. Weather looks good for another outing tomorrow 🙂
Paul De Tourtoulon
12°c no wind 8 of us on the field, I got my Raptor .50 out for a change to try my new fuel, and M/Plex space box to keep my fingers warm.

Paul De Tourtoulon
14 hours ago, Learner said: Finally listened to the experts and dumped castor!😉 Nope !, it's a mix of my 2024 fuel ( 30 liters) which has 3.46% castor, in it, 1 liter of that with 1.6l of Rapicon, which only has 16% synthetic oil, you say 'experts', like your British politicians ?.🤢 PS, So mixing my own fuel since 1984 and mixing it for my model shop customers from 1990 till 2009 doesn't class me as an expert ?.😇 Edited January 16 by Paul De Tourtoulon PS,,,

Was always tempted to get one just for fun. I bought a version of this in blue and yellow to strip out the electrics (planning a wee balsa rapide) little did I know it has a whole row of green leds aswell. So the rapide may end up a bit more disco than intended.
leccyflyer
Blowing a hooley today, so a case of Pick Your Weapons - which in my case was my Volantex FW190, SEMFF Wee Zero and Nigel Hawes Tucano. The wee fellas handling of a blustery wind is second to none and the FW190 fared well against a pair of Spitfires and a P-51D. Even without any stabilisation the power:weight of the SEMFF profile models is such that they laugh at the wind and we had two Zeros and an FW190 all in the air today. Forecast for tomorrow morning is much better, so they will get another outing then.
Eric Robson
4 days consecutive flying for me, beautiful weather in North West Durham, cold at first, light wind notched up 20th flight with my Me110 also flew my Warbirds Replicas Spitfire. Thanks to Mark R. some flying photos of the 110, he left before I flew the Spitfire. Edited January 18 by Eric Robson Wrong photo

Eric Robson
Our strip is not kind to undercarriage's at this time of the year, so after a couple of teething problems I flew it with the lower nacelle covers off. Typical no problem.
leccyflyer
Perfect conditions today, a little chilly, but flat calm with a bright high overcast and occasional patch of blue sky. A good turn out with nine of us at the field. Had some good multi-Spitfire flights, as Mike flew his repaired EFlite XIV, whilst Bob flew the nicest looking Dynam Spitfire K-LB and I flew my Parkzone IX. Bob also took advantage of the calm conditions to give his GWS Tiger Moth an outing. A nice variety of models on show this morning.
Eric Robson
Two days of light wind but damp and drizzle. Here is a video from Friday of my Warbirds Replicas 110. The landing could have been better. It also has the lower nacelle covers on which I took off to have access to the undercarriage, a slight mod has been carried out and will be documented in the Warbirds Me110 thread which has the better video. This one was done on a phone camera, thanks to Mark C. Edited January 20 by Eric Robson Unable to load video
shepeiro
Maidened my own design on the beach today flew pretty nice though I think I need to push the cg forward a touch. Had a lot of fun throwing at around in the near still conditions now I have the rates and expo in it’s pretty docile most of the time but has enough powers to climb out of anything and loops are pretty easy. got a bit confused while low passing and the instability (cg too rearward) meant I stalled it nose first into the sand at reasonable lick. Propellor not saved by prop saver and some slight damage to cowl (bad design) means was not a great end but need to remake cowl too beef it up a bit anyway and will help with cg along with some undercarriage. Nigel Armstrong
My first flying session of 2025. Cold but flat calm at the Blyth Vally RMC site in Northumberland. Roll on the summer ☀️

leccyflyer
Big turnout at the club field yesterday with over a dozen members flying and a wide variety of aeroplanes on the go, including the rare appearance of a couple of IC-powered models. Set off from home in thick fog, which was unbroken through beyond the first hour of the journey until starting to climb the foothills of the Cairngorms, at which point the good old Highland Boundary Fault worked it's magic and revealed a beautifully clear January morning beyond. Flat calm, with bright sunshine, big blue skies and scattered high clouds, the frosty ground soon thawed out but was helpful early on as a hard floor to help my Parkzone Spitfire get off the ground without tipping up. I wanted to grab some video clips of a few of my models and that worked out fine - but they take forever to upload with our steam-powered internet. Much fun was had in busy skies and pretty much continuous flying. Here's a bit of a taste of the day - video of my Warbirds FW190 off the dolly, as I haven't fitted the retracts yet. TBH she's so well behaved off the dolly and belly lands beautifully I'm a bit reluctant to fit them now. Also a couple of pictures of new owner Dave's Piper Cub glider tug - Dave also brought along his work in progress on the WR Tempest wings and fuselage. Having flown for four days in a row I didn't think that I'd be flying today, but a nice weather window opened and we were able to grab a couple of very enjoyable hours at my local club field - flat calm again and perfect flying conditions. Bob had a new Bangood bargain Bixler-style foamy pusher that had excellent performance and I put in some more flights with the Super Cub. We were also both flying SEMFF fighters and they looked fantastic, pirouetting in some decent formation flying until Bob's Spitfire cut the rudder off my Me109E, which then went knife edge and fell to earth, snapping the fuselage. All fixed a couple of hours later, but showed that they do need a fin and rudder to fly right!

Nice one leccy. I do like to see a nice pollution trail behind a glow-powered model. That WR FW190 video is going to cause you confusion in years to come, with it date stamped 2021 🙂 Been manky for a few days here - even the RAF's promised low level exercises over our field (we have a NOTAM and they regularly call me) didn't occur, which I'm blaming on the weather! Managed to do a few clean, indoor modelly jobs though......
leccyflyer
Thanks GG - I do like to be ahead of the time, flying the FW190 three years before I'd opened the box. 🙂 Seriously though I do wish I could manage to reset the date on those video glasses. I've followed the instructions on inserting a text string in a file and saving it to the SD Card, but no joy. The third video from Tuesday finally uploaded overnight and that features another dolly launch, this time of my Ripmax Mustang, which I hadn't flown for a couple of years. Those Ripmax funfighters are excellent flying models and she deserves to get out more. Now that she's dolly-rated that might well happen. Adrian Smith 1
After a load of rough weather/part time working I managed to get out today. Who could resist a fabulous blue sky. Wind was 10 mph down the strip. what's not to like? Time to try out my new Futaba TX. I was a bit nervous being a glass half empty type of person. Out came the SW Edge 540 beastie. I must say I was on "Edge" before I started as it had been a good three weeks since I last flew. The voiced timer was very helpful and not the gimmick I thought it might be. 👍 I set the timer a good half minute shorter than normal purely because I was going to be battling the wind and stronger gusts. Just a precaution to be sure of the power pack voltage on landing. I had three flights which on this occasion was enough for this session. She flew very well despite my being a bit ring rusty. I am not sure about the altitude/vario telemetry unit I have fitted. It takes a good 10-15 seconds to show a green light (from red) after the RX is fired up. Not sure if that's right. I need to do some more research as I didn't get a peep out of it all session despite speech being set. Not sure why that is. I probably should have left an SD card in to see whether any info was downloaded. I have a separate thread running on the new TX which I will cover all this there. I am just not sure I have set everything up right. As an observation the instructions in the manual are lacking to say the least. Anyway this didn't spoil my fun and I loved every minute of my time at the field.

Interesting! Do love my T16IZ though having spent some time getting into it. PS. When locked, just quickly press the same button to brighten the screen if you want check voltages or timers etc.
