stu knowles
Pete Russell, Ian Peacock, Chris Golds, Boddo, latterly Alex Whittaker. all good writers with something to say. I do find that the mags in recent years are not so good, Last month was particularly thin
leccyflyer
There is always going to be a turnover of columnists and we are lucky to have excellent content from those such as Tim Hooper, Shaun Garrity and David Ashby's new column in the magazine - more pages would be very welcome though.
Christopher Wolfe
I live in a country town in Australia. As I was a long term customer my local newsagent managed to obtain every issue of all my favourite magazines, even during the pandemic. In a small town, the local newsagent employs 1/2 dozen people, some are friends and neighbours, so that's why I shall never subscribe. *Chris *

Cuban8
The way people get their news and entertainment has and is still changing. I happened to hear yesterday on a TV programme that newspapers are really struggling. One of the nation's most popular red top titles has seen it's circulation drop from 4M to a little over IM in recent years, apparently. Just the way things are going. Don't recall the last time I bought a newspaper. Edited June 16 by Cuban8

Nigel Heather
One of the things that would be the free gift hen taking out a full year subscription. Trouble is, it is difficult to tell what the current offer is, it’s not like I can look at the magazine on the shelf in WH Smiths because they are usually sealed in a plastic bag. I even asked the question on the dedicated RCME magazine forum back in October but never got a response. So without knowing what the deal is I won’t subscribe. Nigel Heather
After posting I noticed the banner showing the free gift is the BBMF Profile - that doesn't interest me enough to subscribe but will keep an eye out for when the offer changes.
Cuban8
Just on the subject of print media in general - decades ago when my parents were around, I always recall seeing a pile of newspapers outside their home near the bins ready to be disposed of and maybe a TV or Radio Times along with Mum's Womans Own and various other titles. Fast forward to my daughter and son-in- law's house and I've never seen a newspaper, magazine or even a comic for the kids. The occasional kid's colouring book but that's about it. Eric Robson
Neither of my sons, or Grandchildren buy newspapers or magazines, I stopped buying newspapers years ago and the last magazine I bought was the RCME. Recently in WH Smiths I could only find plastic modelling magazines and Aeroplane and Flypast. Yet the model railway magazines still have a good selection. Having said that there's still 3 railway model shops within a 10ml radius of my home and the nearest aeromodel shop is about 30ml away and the best stocked one is in Leeds 90 mls away. We subscribe to a national newspaper and have read it for over 40 years but we get vouchers which are redeemable at the local newsagent. We just give him the vouchers and he delivers each morning so we can read it over breakfast (I like to do the Codeword and that isn't on line). I read a lot on-line but on my desk top with a big screen. My smartish phone is used rarely - the screen and virtual key pads are just too small. My July RCME arrived this morning. I've been reading for 80 years. There were always books, magazines and newspapers as I grew up, so I read. My father told me that I'd never let him read to me because I wanted to read to myself. If you never get a newspaper what do you spread over the bench when painting? 🙂

I just ring up every 6 months, when I'm expecting my last issue, and ask for the £20 6 month deal, quoting my customer number. Repeat. GrumpyGnome
If we all did that, they'd be out of business..... I'm happy to pay what I see as a slightly inflated price to keep the magazine (and this forum) going. And I'm on a pension so like a bargain 🙂

Put that in your virtue signalling pipe and smoke it. 🙉 blah blah - I can't hear you Edited June 19 by Futura57
