What model did you use ?

Recommended Posts

I used a Glens Models Cap 232 with Irvine 53 to take my A test in a howling gale in December 2005.

And in April 2010 the very same model was used for my B. One of the examiners was forum member Brian Cooper - on the left below. And none of the models in the background are relevant. I'd intended to use an ARTF (make forgotten!) Extra 300 with OS 91, but on the day I elected to use the 'old favourite' CAP.

Inbetween those I took my Heli A in May 2006 with an old Hirobo Shuttle and Irvine 36.

Kyosho Calmato to do my A. I'm not really interested in doing the B test as it just seems such a faf getting examiners & myself all in the rite place at the rite time. But if I did take it I think I would probably use my Seagull Edge 540 , Irvine 53 or my Hangar 9 Katana , OS 91fs.

Did my "A" test with my Wot-4 late on the evening in a howling wind and grey, angry skies.

As part of affiliating to BMFA the club committee had set a year for members to replace the club;s own solo flying test with the BMFA "A" Certificate as a requirement to fly solo.

Naturally it was on the eve of the expiry of that year - which literally flew by - before I'd managed to take the test.

The few examiners that the newly affiliated club had available did a fantastic job in getting a large proportion of the club members through the scheme in that time.

Took my A early 1980 using a Galaxy Models Escort 3 channel trainer powered with an OS 19. Tested by Gary Weston of Galaxy Models (wonder if the model used helped). It was the SMAE then. Never bothered with anything after. As one of the previous posters mentioned its just for fun, relaxation and pleasure, not a challenge or something to be overcome. Done that with my Hang gliding(international delta bronze), parachuting, bungy jumping, white water rafting, yatching, PPL with IMC and night.
