Paul Johnson 4
Jonathan, You can easily extend your flight time out to 6.5 minutes I usually have around 45% to 50% left on the battery, running your battery lower will shorten its life quicker. You also want some reserves for the unexpected. The best resource for cad help is youtube.com, but it is a steep learning curve but worth it. RICHARD WILLS
Jonathan , without getting too involved I would recommend the following . The aim is to get the best performance from your battery within a 5min flight time . Both Paul and Vic are very good at economical flying but that is partly because they tend to fly when there is no wind (Paul flies very early and Vic lives in an area of Italy that rarely has a breeze). Those conditions allow maximum exploitation of energy management as used by the full sized pilots . Paul is correct in saying that our power to weight ratio is poor compared with a sport model . Having said that , a well set up one will go uphill very well indeed . Your model seems to be under pitched for some reason . I say that because after 5mins my on my 3300mah packs and a managed display as per Duxford I will be down to 30% . Use Pauls prop pitching method . But stick to the five minutes and note what is left in the pack . You can pitch up the prop quite a bit, but use the throttle with some common sense . We dont have a gearbox or variable prop so its a bit like trying to drive your car round Brands Hatch (including the hairpin) in top gear . So respect your set up. Flat out in dead air is a real NO NO , you will blow the ESC at the very least . Having said that my P51 , 109 and Spitfire all have 65 amp escs with pitched props . All have had 400+ flights and no blow ups . There is plenty of performance to be had if you just inch towards it . Remember that each increase in pitch will increase torque as well as amps . So , like the real thing watch out for that on take off or a go round .

Two kits, one for the High back model and one for the 51D Low back as there is more room for the radio behind the seat in the D than the B. The radio is in two parts for you to decide if you want the height. It will need assembling, enabling it to be painted, just use a dab of CA. I used drab olive, satin black and a bit of brown for the leather headrest. The kit is £22.99 which includes the Pilot Top & Legs which is £8.99 if you just want that on it's own. /sites/3/images/member_albums/61895/874814.jpg /sites/3/images/member_albums/61895/874815.jpg /sites/3/images/member_albums/61895/874820.jpg /sites/3/images/member_albums/61895/874821.jpg /sites/3/images/member_albums/61895/874822.jpg /sites/3/images/member_albums/61895/874823.jpg /sites/3/images/member_albums/61895/874816.jpg And this kit is going to Paul to fit into the forum kit. hi i know this post is 4yrs to late probably but are these still available as ive just started mine andy

leccyflyer
This one - plastic kit modelled at the fantastic wee museum at Herdla, Western Norway. 65 Squadron Mustang III based at RAF Peterhead and flown by W/O Cecil Claude Caesar who was shot down and killed at the Forde Fjord on Black Friday, 9th February 1945. His was the only Mustang shot down during the battle, but the Dallachy Strike Wing Beaufighters fared much worse, with eight aeroplanes and thirteen crew lost. It's the 90th anniversary in a few weeks and I'd like to take a wee trip up to RAF Dallachy to pay my respects. David Hazell 1
Yep, I'm gonna start mine - next week. Trouble is I am running out of space to store planes. I have some crash damaged ones which if I was more hard nosed, I'd sacrifice, but I know with a little bit of TLC I can get them back to their former glory!

Got the decals from RW, with the kit when they came out? Some time ago now, in the process of installing a steerable tail wheel, hence all the conflab above over tail wheels.
