Suspect you would need a pretty large hall to fly the wee Spitfire in Daren. Twenty odd years ago we just about managed to fly RC converted CC Lee free flight fighters in a large ice-rink venue. Fine for a Pico Stik or GWS Tiger Moth but that would be just about the limit of our current basketball court sized venue. That also works out fairly expensive at £75 for two hours on a Sunday. With the number of flyers we get from three-four clubs it washes it's face at £5.00 a head.
Daren Cogdon
Ahh, not that Spitfire. This Spitfire. This is one that I probably have more flight time with than anything else! I bought it back when I was getting back into the hobby, and while it's nowhere near as capable as the Volantex/Eachine jobs, it's perfect for a nice cruise in the right conditions.
GrumpyGnome
What make is that? Still looks like a challenge to fly, and pretty limited - probably just quite quick circuits. Compare it to something like the models mentioned above......
GrumpyGnome
Ah, Airnox. Never heard of it.. 🙂 I stand by my above comments...
Daren Cogdon
Yeah, it's a bit of a rare bird. Certainly can't seem to find one these days (or the Mustang or Zero, for that matter). It will quite happily fly circuits at about 50% throttle, and in quite a small space.

Paul De Tourtoulon
Yes the 120, like the .58 no proper stable low idle,,,🤢
Chris Freeman 3
Byron and I managed to get some flying done on Sunday, it was a nice morning so we flew some of the airframes that needed some airtime. Big Sig Rascal with old Saito 120, great fun to fly. Seagull Fly Baby, electric set up and now flying well after more lead added to the nose. Seagull Monocoupe, ST 2000, also had more lead added to the nose and now flying better. Looks great in the air. Stick flies like a Stick, great fun.
Peter Jenkins
Decided to open my 2025 account despite the temp of 3C. Got in 3 flights before the cold got at me and the light faded. This was my 2nd flying session since I moved radios from JR to Jeti. I had fitted stronger stick springs but had turned the stick tension too high for the first session so turned the adjusters right down and that seems spot on now. Still a bit more trimming needed for the rudder/aileron KE mix but I was too cold to think straight by then.
GrumpyGnome
+3? Positively balmy! The thick frost on my car didn't thaw all day.......
leccyflyer
First flights of the year. Frozen ground with a dusting of fine snow, very light cross wind, sheep have all been removed, just a little high cloud in a bright sunny sky. Took a couple of Volantex wee fellas, plus my EFlite Mustang IV Dooleybird, SEMFF Zero and the newish FMS PA-18 Super Cub. The flat tyres didn't hamper the Super Cub too much, but the suggested flap to elevator mix is way too fierce, giving a marked pitch down now, when applying full flap. Enjoyed the flights and will dial back the elevator mix before the next outing.
Colin Carpenter
5 of us got out 9-30 to frozen 🥶 ground and full sun .Most out for ages. Had to turn back on sun and fly E -W , not the best ! Mix of planes and choppers. Colin
Tom Gaskin 1
Five of us got out at the Sussex field this afternoon, a balmy 3 degrees with light winds. No breakages so a bonus! Tom
Chris Walby
Getting ready to head out... 5mph, gusting 10mph and above freezing. A good chance to test out the winter kit. Photos to follow. Perhaps we missed the pre-install of the diesel in the club house, I blame the electrician 🤣
Chris Walby
Well done to Kev for suggesting flying. Four of us on site with a mix of EDF, Balsa and foam and after 3 hours of near continuous flying it was time to head home. 🙂
Paul De Tourtoulon
8°c no wind, so only 6 on the field this afternoon with the Bunker with it's RCV 120 and me with another carburetor ( number 4) and fuel tank in Enya 1204c bigger Spitfire.
Peter Jenkins
I have a Bucker Jungmann just like that! It has an OS91 FS Pump and flies very realistically with that amount of power.
Paul De Tourtoulon
I think it is 1.7m span

leccyflyer
Misty afternoon, freezing cold, but cleared up after a bit and a decent turn out of half-a-dozen of us at the field this afternoon. Possibly the last flying for a while, if the forecast is accurate.
shepeiro
Flew my tinyII (own design) this morning on the beach when tide was out. got some nice flights and a few touch and goes without too much dog involvement. Through vigorous testing I also discovered a weakness in the wing tip design that answered the question “does it need new bigger wings”
Peter Jenkins
Only managed to get out to my other club field. When I arrived, the temp was 2C snd when I left 2 hrs later in the gloom at 4.15 it was 1C. The good news was the wind was almost non existent which was ideal for checking the Anthem's trim with it's new (well second hand) Jeti DS24. Like Kev's, our windsock was also broken. The calm conditions allowed me to check the vertical downline mix and the 2 mixes for ensuring a knife edge and KE loop using rudder and motor only. 2 flights each with 2 intermediate landings to tweak the mixes (I suppose that makes 6 flights!) left me with 2 packs to practise my current competition schedule with a fully trimmed F3A machine. Bliss. The photo was taken 2 days ago but I forgot to post it!
Murat Kece 1
We had a great day in Aberdeenshire flying over the snow. Temperatures changing from -8 to -4, but sunny and no wind at all. It felt reasonably balmy with the sun. Here 4 of clubmates twiddling their thumbs. I had a few flights with my Albatross, Polaris and Al-Tazar. leccyflyer
Looks great and sorry not to have been able to make it Murat. Three days in a row flyable here, but no more than a few mm of patchy snow on the iron hard ground. Great fun with my new Fun Cub on her replacement inflatable bush wheels, ideal for touch and goes on the rutted hard ground. I think I'd need a bit deeper snow to clear the water rudders on the floats to make that an option - forecast is for heavy snow for you overnight, but 16mph winds might be too much for me to make the trip up in the week- likely to be some hefty drifts. Paul De Tourtoulon
Only 13°c and overcast today, I flew my Saito .45s powered Bristol M 1 great fun as usual, and I also flew the Bücker Jungmann maiden and second flight, the Maiden was pretty simple, I got the owner to limit the elevator, a mistake, as when I came in to land I had the stick fully back, and it just scraped over the grass and landed perfectly on the runway, (luck ), the second flight lasted around 5 minutes, the time it took his badly fixed new battery to 'nudge' its Switch and turn the radio off, which got me running across the runway holding the radio up like the old days on 27mhz, needless to say the engine was flat out and the plane in a slight left turn, it reminded me of the V 1 stories of Spitfires tipping the wings of them in WW 2, it flew around 1 klm, and through 2 trees. 🤢
