RCM&E Magazines for disposal

Keep maybe a dozen that won't take up much space and in the absence of any other takers (sadly) dump the rest. They'll wind up in the skip eventually when you'll have no say in the matter - if you get my drift! For now, do keep a few back though, I often spend many a happy hour going over a few old modelling mags from the 60s and 70s that I enjoy reading, especially articles from David Boddington and a bit later, Brian Wynch. Even the adverts are entertaining and bring back memories of our hobby when it was totally different.

Only 2 metres high? I have a 10ft long wall to head hight of old mags and books in my 5th bedroom. RCM&E from issue No1 with a gap of a couple of years in the mid 2000 teens.

I hope your bedroom floor is strong. I’m sure I once heard the story (probably apocryphal) of someone who was killed when a mountain of old newspapers etc. he’d hoarded in the attic crashed through the ceiling and killed him in bed.

Especially on new build properties where the best you can hope for is that the construction only just meets the minimum building regulation requirements!

I have several decades worth of Motor Cycle Sport dating from the first issue as a magazine (it was, briefly in newspaper format).  It's good because there're very few adverts and the articles/series are often historically interesting  - like Phil Irving's 'Tales of the snarling beast' about Vincent HRDs.  In those days the contributors were only identified by their initials.

I also have 2 piles of recent RCMEs on my desk right now - most of them need to go. It's just which build articles/plans to keep 🙂
