Dave Cunnington
Like most of us, I have a pile of magazines sitting in a cupboard, probably nearly 2 metres high. No one seems to want them, so unless I have a response from anyone here by PM in the very near future, they will be off to the recycling place. Free to anyone, collect only from DN21, please PM me soonest
Rich Griff
Why not put them in your clubhouse ?

The bar, the lounge, members dining room, board room, committee room(s), smoking room - or maybe just the bogs?
Rich Griff
Charity shop then ? Old mags particularly with plans eat nothing and are well worth hanging onto, a usefull resource...
Dave Cunnington
Thanks Guys Our clubhouse has no room in it, and I don't think the local charity shop wants them anyway I just want the space back. Cheers DC
Cuban8
Keep maybe a dozen that won't take up much space and in the absence of any other takers (sadly) dump the rest. They'll wind up in the skip eventually when you'll have no say in the matter - if you get my drift! For now, do keep a few back though, I often spend many a happy hour going over a few old modelling mags from the 60s and 70s that I enjoy reading, especially articles from David Boddington and a bit later, Brian Wynch. Even the adverts are entertaining and bring back memories of our hobby when it was totally different.
kevin b
There are a few old magazine retailers who would probably love your collection and would arrange their own couriers. here is one for example. Magazine Exchange.
GONZO
Only 2 metres high? I have a 10ft long wall to head hight of old mags and books in my 5th bedroom. RCM&E from issue No1 with a gap of a couple of years in the mid 2000 teens.

I’m sure I once heard the story (probably apocryphal) of someone who was killed when a mountain of old newspapers etc. he’d hoarded in the attic crashed through the ceiling and killed him in bed. Don Fry
Not apocryphal, look up floor loading charts for building regs. Libraries are top specification, multiples of domestic floor loads.

Especially on new build properties where the best you can hope for is that the construction only just meets the minimum building regulation requirements!
EarlyBird
Hi Dave, HMAC have a swap meet on Sunday the 20th of November, so I asked about your magazines but unfortunately, they can't give them away. Is there anything else you want to move on as I understand that there are tables available. Steve
Geoff S
I have several decades worth of Motor Cycle Sport dating from the first issue as a magazine (it was, briefly in newspaper format). It's good because there're very few adverts and the articles/series are often historically interesting - like Phil Irving's 'Tales of the snarling beast' about Vincent HRDs. In those days the contributors were only identified by their initials. I also have 2 piles of recent RCMEs on my desk right now - most of them need to go. It's just which build articles/plans to keep 🙂
scott finnie
Hi Dave do you have volume 40 Issue 12? Will have the Multiplex Smiley on the front cover? If so could I buy it please. Thank you, Scott

michael harper 2
Hi, just seen this post. Are they still available ?
RedBaron
I had a similar problem and "solved" it by scanning all the magazines with my trusty ScanSnap speedy scanner and then binning the magazines (less plans which were kept). So now I don't have a pile of paper magazines taking up space but still have them all!!
Piers Bowlan
I archive all the old plans and build articles in ring binders. I have rather a lot as I have RCM&E, plus some RCMW, and RM going back about 25 years!
Brian Cooper
Give them to the Children's Ward at a hospital. They are always keen to have them.
