Peter Miller
I think that there is dihedral on the bottom wing. I expect Paul will confirm that. Come to think of it,a friend has just built one but not flown it yet. I must ask him.
leccyflyer
Yes, you can see on one of the pictures that the bottom wing has dihedral - less clear if there is any at all on the top wing. It's a good thing to see the model fly after all that time and that it's gone to a good home.
GrumpyGnome
Seagull P47 kit B&W tester pots, tissue & dope over laminating film RCGF 29cc petrol Radiomaster TX16S - 10 channels used (rudder, elevator, aileron x 2, flaps x 2, undercarriage x 2, throttle, ignition kill) Ready for remaiden. First flight I managed to catch the rough with onevwheel, tearing the undercarriage leg out and causing secondary damage. Successful fast taxi trials complete. Needs a bit of 'tidying up' around decals and fuselage invasion stripes.... but I want to fly it first! Apologies for the poor grass. 4

Paul De Tourtoulon
Is that the 1.60m one, I had one with a Dle 20ra more than enough, really noisy, so I re motorised it with a Saito 150.

David P Williams
Finally managed first flight of my winter build Wots Wot. It’s the good old foam wing kit version with an SC70fs. Bit twitchy for me at the moment so a bit more playing around to get comfortable with it.

Paul De Tourtoulon
I did fit a couple of stainless steel boat silencers to it, that made it sound like a badly silenced 10cc of the 60's.
Ron Gray
I used to use canisters on mine (not fitted to warbirds, only sports or aerobatic types) but it was still difficult to get the noise down to acceptable levels and they were rather expensive. I ended up selling off all but one of them and that one will be sold at some point.
GrumpyGnome
We're very lucky and have no current noise restrictions.... The standard silencers on small petrols are anything but. I completely lost one but didn't know until I landed.
Ron Gray
Neither do we but even I got fed up with the noise!

Graham Davies 3
Another Focke. Slightly anonymous, I may add yellow 16 markings, but I’m keen to get it in the air. warbird’s replicas, so you all know what this is. Ready to do battle with my similar provenance P51B and Yak 3. If I can just work out how to fly all 3 at once.. Great design and kit, as always. He’s clever, that chap Wills… Graham 10
leccyflyer
Not exactly new models, but models that I haven't flown for a very long time, so probably qualify for this thread. First one is my Pilot Mitsubishi A6M Zero, which I last flew in 2007 after it had been converted from an Irvine 36 to a Twister 25 on 3s1p FlightPower lipos - my first "larger" lipos, hideously expensive and very, very, very underwhelming. The Zero did fly, well enough, but always felt to be just on the edge of disaster. I also didn't like the fixed undercarriage. Fast forward to this year and the Twister 25 has been replaced by a EMax 2832/05 and 4s1p 3300mah Zee Power lipos, the fixed gear ditched and intended for dolly launching. The model is much better behaved now, gets along with a nice briskness and climbs out with no issues at all. The extra power does seem to have had a downside, in that the airflow plucked the removable canopy off it's magnets and retaining dummy aerial and it now rests somewhere within a huge area. Location unknown. Great to have the Zero flying again though and very pleased with how she performed. Second one is even older - an ACT Me 163 Komet. These kits were pretty popular in the early noughties and saw plenty of them fly at the various electric fly ins - never saw one land in one piece though, it was always an untidy tumble, often shedding bits of foam. I built mine in 2002, then hung it from the ceiling and it's been there ever since. However I was determined to get the thing in the air, so it's had a tiny Lemon 2.4ghz four channel receiver replacing the Hitec 35mhz unit, but still with a sp400 - in this case after a failed maiden flight last week -a 7.2v version on 3s1p 1300mah fairly old and tired G-Power pack and a 5x5" carbon Gunther prop. Motor tests indicate that this would give 100w a pound and the model hand launches easily, does scoot along very nicely, is wonderfully stable, rolls like a mad thing and has survived two landings so far, the first one ugly, the second one much better. Karl-Georg Krafft
*Meet my new Jupiter Bipe (free download plan) made from 6mm Depron. It spans 1 meter, has a simple KF-airfoil and it differs from the original plan only in some cosmetic details. It's a great flyer. Very aerobatic or very slow with its flaperons down. Jim Hearnden 1
OK I hate building, yet at the mo seem to be doing no flying and a lot of building! Two models a small 25" wing, based on a wing half laying around. The other is a wedge model called Wedgeable. 48" span, using a foam wing laying around my office. Probably from Inwood models years ago. This will be electric with a PO3541 1270 from 4 Max. 60A ESC & 3S 2200 or 2700 LiPo. Still a long way to go, I seem to be doing lots of thinking & little action, but it is close to 30 years since I last designed & built! Shocked at the price of Balsa. If this is successful may build a smaller one in Depron for indoor flying later in the year.
