Drone Taxi

Recommended Posts

From the press release;

"Industry partners will also undertake multiple industry-leading trials to explore new ways to operate drones beyond the visual line of sight and demonstrate electric aircraft – keeping accidents to a minimum and making the most of technological advances."

You may still be 'collateral damage', Don.

You can already buy one of these for personal use:

Pivotal BlackFly

Lots of development going on in China and the UAE as well with commercial flights planned for this year.

idd

That maybe so but for an example, how long have they been trialling E scooters in the UK and they still cant decide what to do. so how long will it take to trial and legislate to make these a common sight flying.

The manufacturer says theres no need for a license so just buy and fly, do you think that will happen here.

Of course you'll get a few, same as helicopters but

I think theres more chance of seeing pigs flying than being able to phone for a flying taxi in the timescales their stating.

So right,,,

No chance of flying taxi's, just look above you, lamp posts, telephone wires, trees and in the grassy fields, cows, horses and no way is a farmer going to let them land in his fields, damaging his crops, like Helicopters it needs a flat surface, without fod and dust, and not forgetting the weather.

So all those drone rules, hours of manpower, wages and laws for nothing.😡

I think these MPs need reminding who it was that invented drone technology. It wasn't British Aerospace, Airbus or Boeing. It was modellers, tinkering away in garden sheds, and boy, have we come to regret it!

Nothing wrong with Drone Technology in itself, it's simply that the expectations for that tech have run wild and unchecked into certain areas that are just not feasible, or will not become feasible, if at all,  for many decades until/or after a total restructuring of day to day living as we know it now. Let's not be disingenuous.......film making, sports and news coverage has been revolutionised by drones.......survey work, security and sadly military uses, are just a few areas where drones have shown great advantages over traditional tech. Other areas such as widespread delivery of consumer goods by drone, or the drone/flying taxi idea can be demonstrated to work in tests and trials, but fall falt on their face in the real world. I don't see a shred of hard evidence of that changing any time soon IMHO.

I can see one positive outcome from the introduction of automonouis air taxis. Much improved levels of street cleaning to reduce the damage to air taxis and people as these devices take off and land in city streets.

....or more street cleaners needed to clean up the autonomous air taxis after 'delivering' someone from 500 feet after meeting a pigeon en route to some 'important meeting' that they 'couldn't' take a limousine to.

If you have ever had the pleasure of wandering the streets of a night club area at 4 in the morning, watching the rats and gulls sorting the streets out, makes you realise the reluctance to actually pay people.

Some start up company are likely to get a Government grant/contract ( paid with our tax money) to explore and develop this dream. When it all fades into forgotten  memories somebody will be very well off with our money. If anyone  in power questions the outcome an inquiry will likely be launched probably headed by lord  A.Somthingorother and they will be paid more £1000s again from our tax money to find out what went wrong. This will be dragged out over some years and largely forgotten about...again. If it takes off and works then watch in dissbelief as it sold off to a foriegn bidder and we the tax payer cant even get our potholes fixed.

More pie in the sky from the Circus DeUK , but only the rest of the world is laughing!

Having an open mind on the whole subject of drones and personal flight vehicles clearly puts me in the minority on here!

Lots of naysayers and general hatred to ANYTHING 'drone' related from most people involved in other aspects of the hobby of RC Flight...perhaps they feel they are to blame for the increase in regulation etc

The necessity of Certifying a multi rotor for use in anywhere you'd actually want an air taxi will quickly sort out the dreams and reality.

We already have multi rotor full size aircraft. Count them on the fingers of one hand. Then compare to the numbers of single rotor helicopters.

Minimum viable thing here is basically a Hughes 500. Etc.
