cymaz
Come on Dylan, Greenacres soon. There should be a Stampe-fest. I hope to put my new motor in c-fxme. If not then its the Rothmans. Weather Gods might have other ideas though. P.S. it's wing building for me Edited By cymaz on 27/02/2014 14:01:

scott finnie
Covering! It goes on so nicely till that last 1% then it creases then self destroys , many Basil Fawlty moments shouting at it.....
john stones 1 - Moderator
putting servo's screws in bearers I've got magnetic screwdriver but they still get lost on the floor or down fuzz
leccyflyer
John Try fitting a little bit of fuel tubing to the end of that magnetic screwdriver to just give a little bit of extra grip.
Stevo
Never use them.... Hex servo screws from Modelfixings. Never lost one yet...
David Davis
Apologies for reviving an old thread but having built two models from scratch and assembled two ARTFs over the winter, I've just discovered that I hate hinging the control surfaces! Having read this thread from the start, I see I'm not alone! Edited By David Davis on 05/04/2016 08:18:
Jon H
I hate repairs of any kind and covering gets really tedious as well. For some reason i enjoy assembling new fuel tanks and assembling servos with all the little rubbers and whatnot. Strange but true

Andy Meade
Hinges. Hateful messy job that usually goes quite wrong.
Martyn K
I don't hate any of it or I wouldn't do it. What I dislike doing is putting things right because it went wrong the first time. Usually: Hinges (a bit of a theme here) Paint and Fuel Proofer - I have more problems with paint than anything else. Cutting really neat circular holes. I am in awe of the quality of some builders here who cut perfect holes in balsa. Martyn Edited By Martyn K on 05/04/2016 09:28:
Steve Colman
Like many others it's hinging control surfaces for me too.
Richie Carey Maddog Designs UK
I said it before and I'll say it again ' covering' is my pet hate. it used to be hinging too but I kind of solved that issue on all of my own designs by wherever possible top hinging control surfaces using the covering material as the hinge so now I only have one thing I hate 'covering' lol
Bob Cotsford
These days the most frustrating part of model flying is loading and unloading the car, though painted finishes aren't far behind.
Denis Watkins
I have to do it right, and the 20 or so pilot holes for the servos, I hate doing it
Shane Sunday
Mechanical retracts! Frustrates the hell out of me. I don't think I have ever got it right. I must have read 3 or 4 threads on the topic and still manage to bodge it up. I've spent hours setting them up step back and flick a switch only to find I'm wrong again. I've extended control horns, cut wire, added elastic bands soldered joints and bought various retract servos. Still I cannot get hem right. So... electric it is. And I've learned the expensive way that it is better not to buy the cheapies. Well that and crashing.
Geoff S
Well, I suppose the thing I hate most is crashing Fortunately, I seem to do less of that these days than I used to, which means my model storage is getting fuller and fuller as I can't resist acquiring new models either through building or buying artf. Which leads me to the thing I seem to be having most difficulty with - selling models to make room for more. Buying's easy but selling involves cleaning up, checking over, photographing and either advertising or taking to a swap meet (something I haven't tried). I really must do it because I want to buy and build a DB Cirrus Moth and won't have anywhere to store it if/when I do. Geoff
Jon Laughton
Yes repairs and covering are up there for me as well because I always strive for perfection and miss by miles! But the thing I really dislike is using rattle cans for spraying - it just never looks a professional job as I am always too impatient and apply too much paint resulting in runs.....when will I learn? MattyB
Pretty much anything on a DLG, but especially linkages - getting a tight, slop free install on something as tiny as that is always a pain. Like Jon I also don't like spraying either.

john stones 1 - Moderator
Anything that requires nimble fingers or artistic talent, I build a good model and they always fly right, but never achieve a finish I'm proud of, I get encouraged on here "go on you can do it" nope I can't. andy james
Yep cutting cowls , still all the extra large holes help with cooling the (slightly loose) engine .
Tony Cook
Bit late to this thread, Covering...why does it take a week to build, and then 2 weeks to cover?? Hanger rash, so all that time covering gets dinged while its in the car getting to the field
