Kits arrived and had a look in the box. I like the scheme below so will be aiming for that in a stand-off scale approach!

Mine will be using the supplied electric set up and WR retracts.

Building board has a backlog of models on it so will get this in due course, unless I could utilise the dining room table!

Wish that Ron's post hadn't been removed, as it now makes it look like I'm taking issue with the thread title, which could not be further from the truth.

Your post don't look like that to me, perhaps out of context although to me its relevant as you appear to be right (if Willy says it is!).

On reflection Richards drawing says Bf (to cover all variants!) so as per drawing Bf it is.   Off to unpack a box of Me parts or are the Bf parts!

Not at all Brian . I thinks its very interesting . We were all brought up calling them "Me" and as Mark Postlethwaite  says , the BF thing crept into being as a sort of righteous correction . But when you think about it , all of the combat reports from the period refer to Me109s and Me110s .

As usual , its a self perpetuating error as one author reinforces the error for the next .

BTW , Ive never met Mark but also admire his work . I did however meet Nicholas Trudgeon at Duxford and had very nice chat with him about colours and composition plus his favourite subjects . He was very nice and would have made an excellent scale modeller 😉

Totally on building, i'm running out of aliphatic, anyone know of a readily available aliphatic glue , comercial name, or what are people using  ?

I just bought a fresh bottle of J Perkins Aliphatic resin from Inwood Models.  It has good grab and dries quite quickly so I prefer it.  Also use Gorilla white glue for bigger areas although my experience with brown paper covering with it was a bit mixed. But then I am no covering expert!

Yes, Gorilla Glue white is my favourite pva. I'm now trying Everbuild Lumberjack 5 minute Poly glue and I must say that so far I'm impressed. @martin collins 1put me onto it for building Depron models where it is very expensive to use UHU POR, ditto Gorilla Glue Clear plus there is no quick grab time with the latter. This stuff grabs in 5 minutes and sets really quickly too, in fact I took some along to a club meeting, stuck 2 pieces of balsa and 2 pieces of Depron together before the meeting then at the end passed the pieces around for members to test. The succeeded in breaking, the balsa and Depron not the joints! It does foam a little bit but nowhere near as much as Gorilla Glue Brown.

Well after a lot of inactivity a decision was made...move the Bf110 out of the dinning room and on to the garage bench! Can't walk past it and then not find time to do something Bf110 related

Made a start cutting the ailerons and flaps out of the wings and while that was setting made a start on the nacelles & UC with the mods suggested by Eric and Richard

Assembly of the nacelles and shaping the wing next as the weather looks rather windy for the next few days.

Just need to get my head around finishing the fuselage off without building it and then making life difficult aka Eric's advice etc

More progress between visiting the field to learn how to start one of those pesky weed hackers of a two stroke Zenoah! In the end it was very easy after a bit of trial and error, without injury!

Anyway back to the Bf110

  • LE and TE on the wings have been sanded and dry fit of the nacelles with UC (including Richards brace mod 🙂) so all looking really good from that point of view
  • Nacelle dry fit to the wing with a bit more sanding to do I'll glue the nacelles up tomorrow and then try and work out where state I left the fuselage. IIRC Eric mentioned something about ding some bits in sequence to avoid making myself more work!

Progress!

Thanks to those that advocate the hot cut method, that made life a lot easier to do and clear up afterwards!

Cable ways and wheel/servo pockets cut away ready for wing joining.

Wing joining and band now glued in place.

Tomorrow I think its wing fitting to the fuselage time and then the decking can be fitted as IIRC Eric mentioned leaving the decking off to aid fitting. Pluss gluing the nacelles in place..ooorr progress at last!

I think I'll head out to the garage and sort the electrics out....and avoid looking at the alierons/flaps!

Nice needle work Chris .

I've got some trousers that want turning up when you have a moment . 😬

I learnt all my stitching skills from frequent visits to the A&E department as a youth!.. Even better with a stapler!

Could not resist a quick look at the electric motive components!

What's the considered thinking of ESC spec? 50A or 60A ?
