Old Geezer
The Wrinkly Fliers ( a geriatric sub-group of members of the Central MFC ) have the answer - a breakfast 'meeting' at an inexpensive local hostelry every 3-4 weeks where we get a chance to catch up over a plateful the traditional British Heart Attack. There's much to recommend it - like any good club - the companionship is as much part of membership as the flying.
Foxfan
Oh I like the sound of that. Much better idea than some clinical evening meeting in the village hall with iffy beer and one person going on ad infinitum! I will suggest it to my committee "mole" when I see him on Monday. Firstly, the Pound Sterling is weak against the Australian Dollar. Secondly, weren't there a lot of fires Down Under recently and thirdly, didn't you have some floods in Queensland a few years ago? Ron Gray
Not a big fan of XC, I tend to use WU and Ventusky, the former because it feeds off local PWS and the latter because you can trace global weather patterns.

Martin Harris - Moderator
An inch of snow yesterday morning - and a green field by lunchtime with glorious sunny skies in the afternoon. They say variety is the spice of life... Approach and landing was "interesting" in the stiff breeze but in the present climate, not a bad day for winter. Today is a different matter altogether... Erfolg
My wife has yet again saved the day! She insisted that I buy a water butt for the garden, install guttering to fill it. Yesterday I completed the job, always bigger than you would think. At this point she announced well that is about it, I should be playing golf next week, as the rain will now stop. Plus you, dear husband, should be pleased as this summer your lawn will not be a parched plot of land. There will be ample rain. Just think, how simple the solution has been, now people were sacrificed, having the hearts ripped out, no virgins thrown down wells etc. All it takes is a water butt, I suggest if the rain and wind does not totally cease, that a few more install garden water butts. It may continue to be windy though, as she is only interested in water logged golf courses, the wind is not to much of an issue. Any ideas? Peter Miller
Today it has been a perfect morning, mild, clear blue sunny skies,,calm wind. I have done the weekly shopping and also my next door neighbours. Then I put a couple of batteries on charge and came in and looked at the met office rainfall radar. I estimate that it will be raining by about 2 pm. OH well,Friday looks good!!

Cuban8
Might be nice today but my local field will be suffering badly from waterlogging & mud. Going to take many weeks of warmer and dryer weather to make it useable without a couple of hours of car, model and boot cleaning after every visit. Still pretty cold with temps still in single figures and wind chill on top of that. Got a press cutting from seven of eight years ago warning about severe summer droughts after a couple of unusually mild and dry winters at the time....never been the same since!
