Lipo Man
A bit chilly and breezy here today but very flyable. As well as my new Warbird Replicas FW190 (quickly becoming my default first plane in the car) I was experimenting with my homemade EDF - the “Flat Gnat”. Slowly shifting the CG rearward and it’s getting better. Only remaining thing to address is the wierd reaction to rudder input. I’m going to drop the throw way down to see if that helps.
GrumpyGnome
Having mown the runways yesterday, it seemed rude not to use them...... Spent a few hours in the cold and wind, with a sky full of light grey clouds - not good for visibility of a white Wot4! Funny how this one, using the same gear as its predecessor, and set up the same, feels different! Kev P brought yet another different model. And again commented that he should fly it more often..... A nice, if chilly, few hours.
Ron Gray
Yep a bit chilly today and the wind strengthened as the day progressed. Took the Giant Revolver to blow some dust off it (hasn't been flown for about 6 months), Laser FT310 took a while to get started as I couldn't get fuel though but pumped some through the vent which did the trick. Superb performance and had a great flight, started it up for a second flight and a stone was thrown up into the prop and as I didn't have a spare with me that was the end of its flying for the day. Still, the WR FW190 had a few flights and was excellent even in the very strong winds and I also flew my Depron 'cartoon' Butch Bird and Mossie, great fun.

I shall be flying at his local patch and catching up on matters aeronautical. I just got back from my trip to Wiltshire today, after leaving home at 7am. It's been a long but enjoyable day. I met up with a friend who moved out of the London area over a decade ago, and I also met a few of his clubmates at the Wessex MFC. We flew out of their Poulshot field. My friend built one of my Top Quark designs from a draft plan I sent him last October. Despite it weighing in at over 1kg (the design weight is 700g) it flew really well and faster than mine. For the maiden he did the hand launch and wanted me on the tx. He describes his F111 inspired choice of colour scheme as military and mine as Disney. I kind of see his point. He's camera shy, so it's me posing with his model. Edited April 18 by Futura57
Brian Cooper
My local field is still like a swamp but flying is now possible at another club. It's great to blow some dust off some old favourite models.
GrumpyGnome
Every time I see a nice Corsair, I think "I need one of those"....... (Sadly the twist n turn retracts always put me off. Maybe one for when I've more Warbird experience).

Eric Robson
Great day's flying today with the Warbirds FW190 and the Brian Taylor Corsair. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
leccyflyer
Good afternoon flying today, light winds, quite warm, no gloves needed and the patch starting to dry up nicely. Flew a variety of wee fellas, plus my SE5a and even a stupid stall, which was my own fault, on landing with my Seafire didn't spoil a nice low key start to the weekend. Spring is definitely here, looking forward to more flying tomorrow morning too.

toto
And a beautiful model Grumpy. I'd have paid good money to see that soaring around bringing back memories from yesteryear. My mentor was flying a Valiant 30cc machine yesterday. Again, great to watch with amazing presence in the air. Hope you had a great day. GrumpyGnome
Good day today. Took the dogs to the field for a run around at 8:30 and there were already 2 members there ! Threw the balls for a bit, chatted, went home, exchanged dogs for aeroplanes, returned to field for a nice 5 hours or so. Kev flew his big aerobat, but the wind made it a little uncomfortable (supposedly gentle breeze had been blown away by the moderate to stiff breeze!) so he packed it away after a single flight. He also flew his Habu in a spirited, mainly inverted fashion. Also flew his SLEC FunFly but the little 2 stroke was playing up so flight times were limited. Phil brought his Arrows Viper and T33. Flew the Viper (which went home with a nose like Concord), but didn't maiden his T33 in the breeze. Wise move. Ian brought some models and a transmitter with a flat battery....................... Another Ian brought his Acrowot XL, his Pegasus Hurricane, and Bixler with full stabilisation. He chucked his Acrowot about with gusto - it didn't care that it was missing a cowl and a canopy. He did some more engine runs on his Hurricane, and performed some taxi trials but the spongy moss on the runway made it challenging! He did some tuition on the Bixler - his son is really coming on! I flew my free leccy aerobat that everyone calls "interesting" It flies really well. Also made some noise with my petrol Wot4 and Glow powered Double Trouble. All the way to the flying field (4 minutes) I was thinking I'd forgotten something................................. after a couple of hours it twigged - I'd meant to bring my Arrows Hawk! Ah well. It was even dry enough for a 45 minute interruption to mow the runways again. Nice day. Onion Bahjis, Samosas and lager next!
Martin Harris - Moderator
I’m assuming that second Ian is Payneib, of the current Pegasus Hurricane thread? Looking forward to hearing about its maiden - if your field ever dries out! At least the wind should help there…

Lipo Man
Realised at the field this afternoon it was the first time I’d taken more balsa models than foam. Had a few great flights and finally got comfortable flying the TN Hunter (after switching today to a much lighter battery). As ever the Warbird Replicas Focke was flown the most, but all three were great despite the wind!
