Beth Ashby Moderator
Thanks Kevin B for this poll. So... which models can be flown at your flying site?
Jon Laughton
The answers are too limiting: we have three sites - one for ic (any size) & electric, one electric only (any size) & one for gliders...so I cannot respond to the poll. Guest
our site allows anything up to 7.5 kg weight limit except turbine jets - in event of crash, fire risk in forest not acceptable so cannot vote
Cabbage Man
We can fly anything, no size limits , just must be electric.
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Well we're an "anything including jets" - but we require a B-cert for over 7Kg and turbine powered models. John, 7.5Kg is a strange breakpoint? The more usual as used by CAA for UAVs etc is 7Kg. What's the history behind that? BEB
Kevin Fairgrieve
Two sites. One is an old USAF Airfield, concrete runway and anything can and has been flown there. Second site is much more restricted. Really only suitable for smaller I.C. and electric, probably up to .61. I do most of my flying at the first site. Bob Cotsford
anything other than a jet as long as it's under 80dBa at 7 metres, though anything bigger than a 1.20 FS is pushing it a bit due to the size of the strip.
Dave Hopkin
We are restricted to 7kg by Air Traffic Control and no Turbines with out special dispensation from the Council (which we only apply for when we have a open day/fun fly)
Bucksboy
Anything except for turbines. We've laid an AstroTurf runway so we can fly anything from small planes with retracts up to the big stuff. Plus, it's no really affected by the weather. Stuphedd
if it will get off the ground we can fly anything , but it has to have STOL features to get it back in ! alternatively , you can land in nearby fields , very muddy , or rescue it from a perimeter tree cheers
Tomtom39
Sorry Beth your questions are somewhat too narrowly focused . My main club allows allows models up to 20 Kg's (no turbines) , however the limiting factor is noise .
Geoff S
I've said anything, which is true, but there are some restrictions on gas turbines and who can fly them ie need to demonstrate competence which seems sensible to me. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't welcome pulse jets, though Geoff
Steve Colman
My answer is more or less identical to Geoffs above. Steve.
John Privett
Posted by John Laird on 14/12/2015 09:05:29: our site allows anything up to 7.5 kg weight limit except turbine jets - in event of crash, fire risk in forest not acceptable so cannot vote Similarly, we can fly anything up to 7kg, but excluding jets (or rockets!) And of course subject to the usual 82dBA @ 7m.
J D 8
Anything can be flown but I cant find a quiet pulse jet
Martin Harris - Moderator
I suspect that quite a few of us are in the position of not being able to vote on this. We fly a range of models up to Zenoah 62 sized (at present - although we have no specific rules in this area) but we took the decision that fire risks were too great for jets. I've noticed that the options have been rather limiting on one or two of the recent polls - perhaps they could be published in "draft" for comments before opening them for voting in future? Frank Skilbeck
Anything that meets the noise regulations, but our field isn't suitable for Turbines, but we have lots of IC models over .61 size, so anything but Turbines but that's not an option. Petrol not very popular due to cost of getting the noise down, but a few looking at petrol 4 strokes.

simon barr
We can also fly anything.... So we do...! From small electric up to turbines, with the odd helicopter and a lot of gliders in between.
john stones 1 - Moderator
As long as it's r/c anything you like. John
Phil Green
I wonder which sites still allow free-flight? Would have been an interesting to see that as an option.
Vecchio Austriaco
An anything but jets option would be useful for some of us - me included. so I will point to anything in the poll - as 61 is not a real big engine size. VA
Clive Pegden
Anything up to approx. 7KG but no jets. Pity the options concentrated on smaller stuff. CP

Dave Bran
Q: Which kind of models can be flown at your site? A: Aircraft do OK, cars and boats not so much.
