Just completed this and ready for maiden at the weekend as weather looks more promising here in the north east.

It is Miss Lizzy, a Peter Miller plan from RCME September 2005. I am surprised how long I have had this squirrelled away, I always liked the look of it as well as the earlier smaller Tequila Sunrise. Since stashing the plan away I have swapped to electric only so I have converted this by making the space between F1 and F3 into a battery bay which has plenty of room for a 3S 5000mAh battery and cut a hatch into the top of the sheeting. Other changes are swapping the u/c to a small carbon fibre unit, 3D printing the cowl and moving the tailplane servos to the rear to offset the battery weight. The pilot and windscreen are also 3D printed. It all comes out to 4lbs 1oz including the battery and with 525W of power it should have good flight performance.

ps, I have just gone back and checked Peter's build article (RCME Miss Lizzy build article) for the weight and that states 4lb 1oz, exactly the same as I have achieved with my electric conversion. Just curious if the quoted weight is with or without fuel, mine is in flying condition including the battery weight (13oz).

First flights today, what a lovely plane, flew on rails straight away and inspired a lot of confidence in the first couple of minutes, well balanced, positive controls and responsive so I put it straight through most of the B test on the maiden flight without any issue. Why have I waited so long to get around to building it!!!!.

Test flew my new PT Sportser, a reduced rehash of a very old design.  Flew well even though I was very rusty.PT1.thumb.JPG.48125a84005c3c2c07279b6d987c6728.JPGPT3.thumb.JPG.0d81342a14976dffc425a48f8e9dc803.JPG173048353_PTinverted2.thumb.JPG.fe36cc1fbebce9eeabe95baa8d0a0737.JPG

Note the spot on the right aileron.  This was a bee which didn't fly away.  It stayed on the aileron right through and very fast aerobatic flight an then calmly flew away after the model landed!!!!

I sometime use a key chsin camera on my aerobatic aircraft mounted using the rear camalyser retention bolt looking aft.  On one flight, a fly was sitting on the rear fuselage as I started the take off roll.  He hung on until I flew the first reversal starting with a 45 deg upline.  As the power came on it either got blown off or jumped!  Your bee was made of sterner stuff!

Just finished another free-flight model, this time it's a Vic Smeed Tomboy. This was my first attempt at tissue over mylar covering (many thanks to @PatMc for the mylar) with Eze tissue applied using acrylic floor varnish on the wing and some cheap tissue paper on the fuselage. Engine is a Boddo Mills 0.75 Mk2 with Kavan 7x4 prop which should be plenty.

First flight will be soon hopefully, once this run of bad weather (must 6 months now!) is finally over.

Finally managed to maiden my Sea Stormer, a David Boddington plan from Aviation Modeller International circa 1993. Here it is at the picturesque Loch Earn where I'm spending the weekend enjoying a waterplane event. 69" wingspan, OS91FS, lovely flyer, as you'd expect from a DB design.

The Essex Balsa Dust Factory (AKA The Spunkwerx) has been working double shifts again.......
The Oowah! Ready for flight testing, in case we ever get a weekend where it's not blowing a gale or not raining stair rods!

Interesting - I thought at first glance there was just one servo!  I'll soon have 4 unflown models mostly because of the persistent rubbish weather.  From being a hardy type I've grown nesh in my old age.

Are you a Shropshire Lad Geoff S?

I've always thought that the term "nesh" was unheard of outside of Salop!

No, Erewash Valley born and bred.  DH Lawrence was born in a house about 200 metres away from ours.  'Nesh' is a common expression in  the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire region.
