kevin b
As far as I can tell the forum is "free for all to use". That means that with the exception of "subscribers only" content, anybody can view it. It is therefore understandable that Mortons will use the forum to persuade people to subscribe to their magazines. The only other way is to make the forum subscribers only, for which we would have to pay for. Obviously. I don't like the pop up adverts, but it is better than just having the BBC to watch. RedBaron
Kevin there is a third option Morton's know who subscribers are so I am sure that the clever IT people could only show those ads to people who are not subscibers.

I was giving a reason why Mortons would want to embed adverts in the threads. If they are changing internet providers, then be prepared for more disruptions. I have yet to see (ever) any computer system change without without the "oh, we didn't know (think) that would happen".
john stones 1 - Moderator
Been on here a few years now, been in modelling a lot longer, shops/suppliers/kit makers have gone, numerous mags as well, plus numerous forums, any change that may come I think would be small, forum users input has been received in a positive way everytime. RCME adds on their own platform ? Small price to pay If it's here to stay.

Having spent the last 25 years in software development (mainly as a product development manager) I know exactly what you mean!
Don Fry
But in fairness to Morton’s, I bet they don’t have product development managers. I have a little mindworm that suggests Kevin and sidekick. Slightly annoying, like a ditherer driving ahead of you, but not worth ramming.

Martin Harris - Moderator
It seems to be associated with the darker theme. Try swapping to the default scheme until it’s been looked at.
leccyflyer
The default theme doesn't have the issue, but unfortunately the default theme comes with default teeny tiny text which is far from ideal even on a 16" screen.
Andy Stephenson
Changing pages in a thread just leads to a blank screen, This happened a while ago so if it was fixed then why is happening now. This looks like part of a bigger problem with the forum software,

Phil Green
I'm getting the blank page (with just the ad header) quite frequently from 3 different PCs, clicking 'refresh' brings up the full page. Edited May 5 by Phil Green
Gavin Mack
I'm also getting the blank page (with just the ad header)
GrumpyGnome
It may help the techies to resolve the issue if they knew a few more details (not just aimed at you Gavin), e.g. Operating System and version, Browser being used, and whether you're using the 'Dark' scheme... Phil Green
It seems to me the site is creating the html for a blank page which is being delivered and rendered correctly by the browser, its not the OS or the browser, it happens regardless of device (Win/Android/Linux) & browser type 🙂 Edited May 8 by Phil Green

J D 8
Having the issue that if I wish to go back a page on pretty much any thread the screen locks up on an advert and I have to leave site.
Ace
@J D 8 If you just hit refresh on the blank RCM&E banner screen it works for me 🤞 Win 10, Darker as I prefer the larger to read format which then displays the RCM&E blank screen when changing page either forward or backwards. Irritating - however hitting the refresh brings up the requested page. Don't know enough to offer any concussion. Dickw
Problem exists on both laptop - Win 10 + Firefox, and on cellphone - Android + Chrome. Darker theme in both cases as it is easier to read. Dick Edited May 9 by Dickw
