Martin Harris - Moderator
There must be some “local” factors at play - we have only a few people complaining here and I’ve not noticed any slowness on my PC and mobile phone. The only commonality reported is BT as the ISP. More information may assist the platform tech team if there’s any wider issue. And before anyone suggests it, mods don’t have any special access method!

Stuart Z
I’m with BT and still having slow page loading on this forum. However no problems on other sites, including eg just been scanning the GBRCAA (F3A. forum) with no slow uploads / pages loading.
Martin Harris - Moderator
It might be worth checking with BT for possible caching issues. What happens if you hold the shift key while refreshing the page? This should force a page refresh... I had a similar issue with an unrelated forum recently when accessing it from the PC and this enabled me to use it.

Brian Cooper
And it's getting slowwwwwwerr. It had been dragging its heels for the last couple of weeks but today it has surpassed itself with slowness. Happy new year. As always, other websites are working perfectly.
Dickw
I find it very variable. Sometimes its quick and sometimes very slow. When its slow it's weird. It seems to be slowest when going between pages and sometimes I find it quicker to change pages by going to another website and then coming back to the page I want (I doubt it is quicker, but it's certainly less boring that way 😁). Sometimes photos just won't download, and other times there is no problem. It doesn't seem to be time of day related either. Can't see any pattern in it. Engine Doctor
It was noticably slower here in kent yesterday. Im on fibre broadband usually lightning fast but just a bit slower. Must be everyone sitting at home using it.
Andy Stephenson
It's like this website has a low priority when something else on the system has a higher priority and claims dibs on the bandwidth.
Martin Harris - Moderator
On 02/12/2024 at 09:04, Stuart Z said: Not sure how yo can do that on an iPhone You can clear your web browsing cache and force a page reload on Safari (and presumably similarly on other third party browsers) from Settings/Apps/Safari/Clear History and Website Data. So far, none of those complaining (seemingly a small minority of users) have reported back on the results of a hard refresh. The only common factor reported (but again, a tiny sample) is BT(EE)Internet so perhaps a report to them might shed light on these problems? Stuart Z
I’ve done that and cleared browser iPhone and desktop and the problem persists but only on this forum. (Regular habit). Pure chance I saw this as I’ve largely abandoned use of this forum. Not spending any more time on this.

dave windymiller
BT user here. Slow update in the past few weeks and pics seem to flash a blank pic until the pic actually arrives some 10 seconds later! Cheers
Martin Harris - Moderator
Another report fitting the ISP pattern. While the evidence is by no means conclusive, have any of the affected users tried contacting their provider to discuss the issue?
Dickw
I briefly considered contacting BT to ask why just one of the many websites I visit is sometimes slow, but life is too short for that 😀 As an alternative thought, I reject cookies - would that have anything to do with the issue? RottenRow
The problem is definitely associated with BT accounts (and perhaps others that are associated with BT such as EE and PlusNet). I have today conducted the following test, all using the same device (iPhone): 1. Connected via BT broadband which is typically 50Mb/s…. access is slow, can take up to a minute to load a page but occasionally is nearly normal. Also get the ‘blank pictures’ as noted by Dave Windymiller above. 2. Switch off WiFi on the ‘phone, thereby using my EE 4G signal, access is consistently instant. 3. At another location earlier today, using a different broadband provider (Airband, 160Mb/s), also consistent instant access. Whilst I’m not an expert on computers or the internet, it would seem to me that rather than a lot of individuals trying to discuss this with BT (even if they managed to reach a real person), it would be far better if the owners of the website looked into this themselves. It does appear from my and the other comments above that it is only this forum site that has this issue. Brian.

Andy Stephenson
I have had this problem on Virgin Media but not recently, so I don't think it's necessarily down to the ISP. I'm convinced it a bandwidth issue at the host.
Futura57
Anyone else getting a painfully slow response from this site this Saturday morning, now nearly 10am Pages regularly taking 10 to 15 seconds to appear, some over 30 seconds to fully render. Also messages popping up checking I am a human, but not requiring any input, just disappearing after 10 seconds. Edit: page just took 20 seconds to load for starting an edit! Ace
Followed others with their slow issues and grateful I was not one of them - until today.😥 Takes between 10 - 15 sec to open a topic then at a previous point before loading latest another 10-15 sec later. However for a very brief moment the screen flashes black and I just catch something like modelflying verifying you are human before progressing to load. Fun Flyer
Yes, exactly the same here.
Lauriew58
Same here too. On EE is often poor compared to other websites, but from about 10 pm yesterday has been dire.
Dickw
Very slow last night (Friday) and this morning and now getting error messages following having to verify I am human. The screen grab below, which I have now seen a couple of times, suggests the problem is not at my end. Dick
leccyflyer
It's positively glacial this morning, taking minutes to not connect and popping up a new Verification page, supposedly checking whether you are a robot, then timing out.
RottenRow
Yes the same here. It has been so for several weeks now, seemingly worse at weekends. Despite several previous replies by various forum members following requests for information ‘to assist the tech team’ (if there is such a team) there has been no discernible difference. Sometimes I get the following error message (using an iPhone)… hit refresh and it usually loads the page ok. Brian.
