Andy Stephenson
I've had a BB kit of a Galahad which I recently built for nostalgic reasons. To avoid it being too floaty, I radically reduced the wing incidence and made it fully symmetrical. There is somewhat of a precedent for this as the designer, Frank Knowles, suggested such modifications to make it more aerobatic in a 1962 Aeromodeller publication. I have to admit I went a bit further and reduced the dihedral a lot to make it more sensible looking. I also built a fully sheeted fuselage and tail and installed an Irvine .39. I haven't maidened it yet so we'll see how it goes next season. Pictures later. Especially with a 33 cc engine! Still, I suppose it will be alright until you get to the landing bit!

Chris Walby
Likely to be a steep learning curve with frequent use of glue and black bin liners. 🙃

martin collins 1
Got the maiden flight out of the way on my recently purchased SIG Wonder, i added some stripes to the top wing and the Union Jack decals to aid visibility in the air but it was very dull and overcast today and i couldn`t see either once it was up there 😏. After a few running issues with the SC15 a change of plug and a bit of tweaking on the low running needle got it singing, it has a surprising turn of speed for a model with only a 15 SC up front and it gets small in a hurry. It is going to take me a few flights to be able to firewall it for most of the flight like my pal Richard does with his Dara which is parked next to the Wonder, i have got too used to plodding round in a scale like manner with my WW1 models, this will sharpen me up a bit🤣.

Jerry Bates Plan F6F 96’”, Saito Fg 90 R3 radial for power. First impressions are of a well behaved warbird. Trainerr’esque wing area and huge tailplane combined with a modest weight (16.4kg). Brilliant model! Beautiful detail! Must be a bit of a booger for orientation in the air, being all black/Dark blue!

leccyflyer
Paul didn't say it was an .020. He said that he had just finished building the delta and that he was now building the micro version as well for an .020.

leccyflyer
Remember these well - the whole family of the Blitz series used to be stuck to the wall on the staircase up to Fred's modelling masterclass emporium at Webbies. Happy days. 😎

leccyflyer
Aye - Dave was a good hand. His Beeline Models Easy Bee was my first dedicated pure electric sports model, after Peter Kent's Searching 400 soarer. Quite a few of their prototypes ended up hanging on the ceiling at Webbies - both good designers and builders, I had the prototypes of the Webbit, Mini Flying Machine, Searching 400 - together with the kits for the Easy Bee and Cricket - both of which I flew just a few weeks ago. Timeless.

Daren Cogdon
On 08/11/2024 at 12:14, extra slim said: OK, so this was passed to me after being intercepted on its way to landfill. After failing to identify it,( it was clearly a kit, approx 41”), I had no real projects under way, so I had a bit of a head scratch and decided to see if I could make something of it, as it seemed a shame to bin and was actually a nice build. I determined it was closest to a clipped wing spit, so embarked on rounding the top deck, with depron sanded, and then 1/32nd sheet. Filled in the cut away for IC, and made hatches for electric motor and battery access. Rummaged in the garage for various bits I already had, and treated it to some decals. After a lengthy interview process Snoopy got the gig!, and prop on for flat field, prop off for slope.. What do you all reckon, does it resemble loosely a spit of a MK XVI variety? I think I will call it a “Spitish”... perhaps cartoon scale!, with a cartoon pilot! 😊 I had one of those 20-odd years ago. Had an OS.25 in it, and was THE nicest IC model I had at the time. Once we sorted out the balance (I read the instructions wrong and put the nicads in the main fuselage instead of under the tank), it was so nice to fly. Wish I had never sold it - but also that the plans or kits were still available!
