Been a life time user of Sektrum and decided to change over to Futaba .Thinking of buying a 16 IZS

Looking on U Tube about the 16IZS it looks a bit complicated to operate and set up but is this just because I am use to Spektrum and once you get use to Futaba is it a simple to set up and operate.Do not want to have a compicate transmitter that is to compicated operate

The 16IZ looks a great transmitter to me. I  use a Futaba 14SG which has been great for years and very good quality . The antennas on the new higher end Futaba transmitters like the 16IZ are much better protected by their flush design than the delicate 14sg antenna and other earlier models.

Operating it should be easy for you as set up is functions based,  but obviously there is always a learning curve. The big thing in changing systems is the cost of receivers if you have many. I must say I have always  found Futaba gear to be good quality.

I actually went the other way back when the original Spektrum DX7 came out back in 2007/8... a fter being alife long futaba and JR flier I chabged to Spektrum starting with the DX7.. then onto the DX8 & 9.. then onto DX7S and now the NX8 and Ive never had any issue with Sprektrum its been as rock solid and reliable as all the Futaba & JR Radios I had on 35 mhz

If you dont need every feature under the sun the futaba 10j is a great set. Very simply to navigate the menu and its got more or less everything you need. I use its predecessor the 8j and it does just fine in my various models.

The addition of a voice speaker for various warnings on the 16izs would be a selling point for me . Screens I don’t use much when flying as I find them distracting with having to re focus the eyes. I also like being able to use 14ch receivers with enough slots so I can use twin batteries on some models and still have enough slots. The 10j looks good and also has telemetry which I always use for  battery checking . It’s really a cash issue. Some of the features are a luxury but things like linking the timer to throttle settings I find useful on my 14sg . I’m not sure if the 10j has that . It’s really needs going through in detail on each feature.

Futaba very much in the minority at my little club. Loads of Spektrum sets, but I don't have to spend my time dodging Spektrum equipped models falling out of the sky due to radio failure........... in my experience, it's rare these days.

I jumped from Spektrum to Taranis because of the pound:functionality it gave me, but have used Radiomaster for the last 3 years with no radio-related issues that weren't my fault.

Futaba seem very solid, reliable sets.

Futaba a re a very are high cost option imo nowadays, and are and trading on their reputation for reliability almost exclusively as you can’t make much of a case for them on value or physical quality any more now that the challenger brandsare so much better on that front. However in my experience their software is highly inflexible and to my brain illogical, so I’d never buy another Futaba set having got used to not beingconstrained by ta  software designers view of how a modelshould be setup, and found the sets from the likes of Frsky and Radiomaster are all super reliable in over 10 years of use, so Futab’s RF reliability sales point is wasted on me, as I know you can get that at far lower price points with better and more flexible configuration at a far lower price point. Personally I’di was going to spend big money on a set like we are talking for a 16sz I’d be looking at Jeti first, or more likely one of the Frsky X series maybe.

Here are the two experts on computer radios, and all the flybarless modules, turbines and all that computer stuff, sitting down is expert N° 1, computer programming and trying to get his T Rex IC 700 programmed, on a frsky radio the other Expert does all the other stuff, including programming my Microbeast, he fly's Futaba 'now', and both of them gave up after 90 minutes, so if you want one of those 'super' radios,,,,

As a retort to that, I set up my Ultrastick - 4 surface wing, selectable coupled or separate flaps, flaps and crow, snap flaps, in less time than it took a colleague to set up dual elevators on a 'traditional' menu driven OS.......................

Some systems suit some brains better than others. Doesn't make one better than the other.

This is the kind of FUD that keeps people added to big brands. What was the Frsky Tx in question? There is a big difference in the approach between the new  rETHOS sets and the older ones based on open source firmware e.g. OpenTX or EdgeTX. The initial learning curve with the newer sets is far less daunting , though personally I love the fkexibility andOpenTX sooroac in general but then I came from multiplexwhich we  know the Open source firmwarestook inspiration from
